When displaying a completely white image the centre of the image is white but all around the outer edge of the image it starts going slightly red. Is this normal on LCD Projectors? I didn't notice this on my old DLP Projector.

Yes it's normal and again no better on the Z4 than the Z3.

Try opening up your manual iris?

Actually I gave a second glance to this on my Z4 - it's not very good here also.

Is this an LCD only issue?

It's a "feature" of LCD projectors. It helps you to focus towards the middle of the screen.

Brightness uniformity isn't that great on my Optoma H30 (DLP) and it is slightly darker in the middle of the screen and the far right but i also notice a hint of red where it is dark on the righthand side and also a hint of yellow in the middle where its looks slightly drity/dark. So from my experience it is normal but reviews generally mention brightness uniformity and i know that the Optoma h30 does not score highly in this department but then again its hard to spot while playing a game/movie. I had read up on the Z3/Z4 and they scored highly so i am surprised to hear about this.
