Sanyo Z3 HDTV

    does the sanyo Z3 play HD material out of the box?

    Natively it will do 720p (1280x720 progressive)
    It will do 1080i (1920x1080 interlaced) but obviously has to compress that a bit to fit on it's 1280x720 panel(s).
    Not sure on this, but I don't think it will do the forthcoming 1080p (this is likely to be the highest quality available from BluRay and HDVD players - although these will almost certainly also output at 720p and 1080i too). However if it can't do 1080p, it certainly wouldn't be alone in this - quite a lot of CE display devices can't do it either!
    TBH, with a 1280x720 panel, it's probably a bit of a moot point as to whether it can take a 1080p input - the signal will have to be scaled to 1280x720 in any case - the same as any other signal.
