Hi all, I've heard people talking about issues that the Z3 has via HDMI and a pc, are these problems the same with HDMI via a dvd player?
I'm thinking of purchasing a new dvd player and I don't fancy the projector crashing on me.

Well I appear to have an issue via HDMI.
watched a film last night and after about forty minutes, pj locked up and screen broke up in into large pixels.
Had to pull power and let it cool down and turn it back on again.
    Bummer!

I am thinking if I should buy the Z3 and because I will connect it with a PC I need to know if there will be any such problems.

Is there any way I can tell if the projector is an OK one or not? (e.g. manufacture date, firmware version etc)

If I do have such problem would it justify a refund or replacement?

There's a 3 year warranty with the Z3 and they are pretty good by all a/c's so I would'nt worry.

No problems here with HDMI between a Z3 and a Pio 868 - picture quality is absolutely stunning...but then again it is via component too :D

gingerone, it sounds like you have the version 1 firmware, it needs upgrading to 1.01, which resolves this problem.

Ivojo, is there any way I can check what firmware the Z3 has?
Also, can I do the firmware update myself if I need to?

I don't think you can update it yourself, ken told me earlier that anything sold after january should have the new firmware.

To check the firmware on the Z3 do the following:

On top of the projector there are numerous buttons. Locate the "Select" and "Input" buttons and hold them down together for approx 5 seconds. A little box should appear on your screen in the top left corner indicating the f/w version. :lesson:

No, we've not had a single reported problem with 1.01 software. Are you using a new dvd player, or have you changed any part of your system which may narrow down the problem?

I'm starting to think the problem is with my dvd player as I watched my pj for ages last night with no issues at all.
The night I had the problem I had been changing the settings on my player.
    Time will tell I guess.

    Hi Ken,

I Am using a Panasonic S97 to feed the Z3 and the lock up happened after a lot of fast searching through a movie.

Well my projector is now locking up every time I use it, it happens after about an hour.
I had a period where it did'nt happen much but now I get two thirds thru a film and it locks up.
Looks like I'll have to give Ivojo a ring tonight.
