I spoke with Andy at av-sales yesterday and the Z2 will
    probably be out mid November!

any more ideas on throw...... someone at avs suggested the z2 would be longer throw than z1 (which would be good for me), can anyone confirm or deny?

So a longer throw means that if the Z1 and Z2 were the same distance from the screen, the Z2 would have a smaller image (assuming everything else was equal)?

Isn't a longer throw distance more of a step backwards for most people? If people were to upgrade their projectors to a Z2, do Sanyo really expect them to live with a smaller screen size?

Or does the extra resolution and other twiddly bits make the change in ratio unavoidable?

It just seems a bit strange to me.

well the plv30, the machine before the z1, was much longer throw..... so maybe sanyo figure that those owners are more likely to be looking an upgrade than the z1........ or alternatively they really just didnt think about it at all

I own the plv30 and hope the z2 has the same throw ratio. i dont really want to have to move the ceiling bracket closer to the screen if i want to upgrade my machine. The sanyo units are very good value for money and dont really want to pay more for a dlp unit or higher end sony pj

i just typed a reply...... weird...... anyhow, the plv30 is f 2-2.3 and best for z2 seems to be 1.5-1.9 so even with the throw longer than the z1, there isnt that much shance of being able to just replace one for the other

That's OK, I can get a 6ft wide screen with a throw distance of 10ft. That will be plenty :)
