Check out the news on the Sanyo Z2 here - German website translated thru' Babelfish................. interesting development suggested, using iris arrrangement similar to HT1000 (and proposed HS20, see post further down).

    Rob,

I've seen suggestions on AVS that it'll be 1280x720, but no confirmed reports.

1280x720 sounds pretty good. Can't wait to see this projector in action - might finally take the plunge and hand over my credit card!

    Regards

It will be amazing if it is indeed 1280x720. Wow! Be interesting to see what the UK price is when launched. Should be a good seller.

I've seen suggestions of a launch price around 2000 euros in Germany - £1380 or thereabouts........... 1280x720, iris, lens shift, 1300:1 CR at that price............ it seems to get better and better.

Hmm, October time launch. Looks like I might delay my projector purchase by a month or so and see what happens.

Either the Z2 will be a blinder if it comes in at around £1300-£1400, or the Z1 will drop by a couple of hundred quid.

    Decisions, decisions...

    John,

Check out Gringottsdirect earlier post about HS20 - Sony seem to be bringing the HS10 up to nearer VW12HT spec (MLA, software control of panel gamma settings) and including other improvements like adjustable iris, higher CR (1300:1) and a 28db noise level...... I think this will put it somewhat higher up the foodchain from the Z2, albeit at a higher price - can't see the HS20 coming in at the same price as the Z2. But a 1280x720 pj at that price point is a sure fire winner - I've seen reports that Sanyo sold about 6000 Z1 units in Europe, looks like they're intent on maintaining and consolidating their market position by agressively positioning the Z2.

Hoping for some information on the Z2 in the coming days.

    1280x720 (Epson) panels? Maybe....

Time will tell. Should be interesting (to Panasonic at least).

Just when i was pretty much set on a PJ purchase this comes along, i have been following the thread on AVS but with a confirmed higher resolution and a higher contrast ratio i think i will wait until October because if this does street at about £1,400 then it will save me a £1,000 over the HT1000 i was about to get, which i think is worth saving.:)
