does anyone know which project is better in terms of image quality. thanks for your help.
There's no answer to you question, only opinions - both models have lots of support on the forum, the search button is your friend if you're loking for opinions. I suggest that you try to see them in action and make up your own mind - you'll be the one paying the money and watching it. If you're looking for a first projector then you're likely to be delighted with either - the Z3 is excellent value at the moment, particularly if you can get one with a free lamp voucher from Ivojo, who are forum sponsors.
Comparison here if you use a translator...
Any difference is probably not worth the extra warranty, bulb, and reduced price the Z3 offers. It's a no brainer at the moment IMHO...PJ
If money isn't an issue then the AE700 wins on pic quality does it not?
Arguable without testing them side by side, which the above reviewer did and put the 700 behind both the Z3 and TX100. Now, I'm as cynical about tests as any other person but the vibe on this list is that they are all great PJs hence it can be deducted that any picture differences are minimal. Back to the original statement on value...PJ
One of the big problems, even with putting projectos side-by-side is the units themselves vary in quality.
Hence you here people spouting all sorts of nonesense about them being better or worse.
The Z3 is better suited to a smaller room as well - I wanted a Z3 on value for money alone, but it was throwing too large an image at the distance I wanted it so I got a AE700
When I compared them side by side recently, I couldn't tell them apart. But as Rooo mentions above the AE700 works better in a long throw room which for me was the deal clincher. Projector central in their side by side comparison said the AE700 was better.
Good points about throw - yes they all have different operating parameters, for some this may be a factor...PJ
Perhaps if you compare, say, a 1000hrs old unit with a new one. But I'd be surprised if identical out-of-the-box players varied perceptably in performance (excepting those which may be faulty)....PJ
so what about screendoor effect on those units ??
If you sit a reasonable distance away you won't be able to see it - it's not noticeable on my Z3 from 8 feet away (84" - diagonal - screen).
I dont see screendoor on my 700 and i sit 6ft-8ft away depending if im on my 360 or watching a movie. My screen is 7ft diagonal. (84")
Nearly every review stated the AE700 was a better PJ than the Z3 (although reviews are usually it was fairly universal). Some people did see screendoor when throwing a large image on the Z3 - there is none on the 700. Saying that though it really is a no brainer with the Z3s 3 year warranty, cheaper price, free bulb offer, reliability and Panasonics unreliability and crappy CS.
Where can u get all that from the z3 at the moment please??
Sorry mate I should have stated 'when they were available' . The Z4 has a free lamp voucher now though if thats any help.
The Z3 offer came just as I had ventured in the benq 5120, and I therefore foolishly decided to wait. Now the 360 is sitting here I want to upgrade. Ordered via TechnikDirect, but my card was allegedly declined :S
Will wait a while again now to pay off Xmas debts and see what comes up.
tsnversand.de has them for COD so no visa needed
cash on delivery? :S
Found Z3 for £766 at http://www.projector-discount.co.uk/sanyo_plvz3.html
I can top that! Give Image Audio a ring in leeds, they have one going for £700 and a spare bulb for £150
New or x-demo????
I think it an ex-demo, but i'm not 100% sure, i asked more out of currosity as i know from here lots of people are after them and they are hard to find.
I saw that site via kelkoo or froogle or something.. but it turns out it comes via germany, hence the 0049 number.
I therefore thought I may as well get it via another german site as there are loads now selling for under 1000 euros (under £700), but just wanted the most reputable.
But yes, if the UK can offer the same or close I would go for that
