I use the proj. on 16X9 mode a lot and this obviously has 2 black borders at the top and bottom of the 4:3 screen.

It appears that there is some screen burn from doing this.
When i watch a full screen 4:3 projection, the very top and very bottom seem discoloured like there is a band of different colour.
(i.e. hte part which is unused during widescreen viewings)

is there anything i am doing wrong.
I have the unit connected to a DVDO IScan pro progressive scan converter.

the picture is still watchable on 4:3 ( fullscreen mode) but you can see the Ghost of where the black borders are during 16X9 play back.

    anyone any ideas.
Bulb life is about halfway through approx 1000hrs

FWIW the effect is heat and/or UV related.

LCD projectors use organic compounds in certain parts of the optical system. Over time these parts 'age' and this results in the colour degradation.

Pretty much every time you come across projector images yeloowing with age its down to the degradation of the organic compounds.

    Regards
