SANYO has taken the wraps off a new duo of designer LCD TVs. The signature Nicolas range will comprise 23" and 17" widescreen models, both finished in a unique white pearlescent finish (silver is also available). The designs are the result of Sanyo calling in French-born, Japanese-based industrial product designer, Gwenael Nicolas, to provide inspiration for its new screens. Nicolas has been behind many other product design and packaging projects for brands such as Tag Heuer, Issey Miyake and Nintendo. The white screens come complete with a matching white table top stand and white remote control, and feature a carrying handle for enhanced portability. The Nicolas 23" features a contrast ratio of 800:1, whilst brightness is rated at 550 cd/m2. The 17" panel features a contrast level of 600:1 with a brightness level of 450 cd/m2. Other general features worthy of note include a Digital Comb Filter for reducing picture noise, 1280x720 native resolution, plus BBE Sound® and Active 3D Surround Sound, Fastext (10 page memory); 2 Scart Sockets (apparently both RGB capable); Side AV Socket (NTSC / PAL); Bass Xpander; and 2 x 5 Watts RMS audio power.
