Have finally found a new fireplace that me and wifey agree upon.
It's available in Sandstone or Limestone.

Just wondered if anyone had any views ir experiences on which is better?

Sandstone and Limestone are broad categories covering a lot of different stones of varying colour and texture. Do you have anything more specific?

Colours on samples seen have been acceptable, just wondered if one was more durable than the other or easier to keep clean, or anything else that would be useful to know in advance id buying.
Just looking for other owners experiences really.

Both are relatively soft and porous. Depending on how it is finished, a red wine ring can be absorbed and impossible to clean. If it's lacquered in some way, it will probably be fine.

I have a marble fireplace and it happens to that to a lesser extent. This is over a hundred years old, so we just blitz it with an abrasive cleaner whenever we decorate.
