Does anyone have experience of the Sandisk Sansa e130, e140 series mp3players as to quality of sound, say compared to ipod or iriver ( which I have) . I'm tempted by the above player as to value for money compared with the ipod . It also has an fm player and SD card input.
    cheers

i have had a samsung ypz5 and various mini disc players and have an iriver h20 and a sansa at the moment - both sansa and iriver are great - you won't regret buying the sansa - if you are in the uk though it won't have the radio -licensing issues don't allow it for some reason - but its great and the video is pretty decent too

What Hi-Fi April 2007 review of mp3 players said of the Sansa e280 - 'the sound quality fell short of expectations, not the pace of the Apple or the detail of the Creative' 3/5.

5 for sound was given to Sony/Nano/Zen V.

Its only one review though, and in contrast to some good web reviews of the Sansa. And drag-and-drop is a big bonus over unwieldy itunes/sonicstage software.

Will check out the sony and nano as the sound quality is the priority. The advert I've seen for the Sansa e140 is from a UK seller and says it has an fm radio. I'm not bothered about video capabilities.
Which Sansa do you have welshyyyyy?
Could you tell me which Sony was reviewed AndrewH13?
    thanks

The Sony was their 7 series I believe, the new 805/6/8 is reportedly even better in the sound stakes but a bit pricey.

Are you sure the UK Sansa e models have an FM radio?

From their website No FM-tuner (and no FM-recording) is available in Europe

I bought a Sansa e280 a few months ago and kept it for literally 3 days before flogging it on due to shocking sound quality. I've since bought a Sony NW-A808 and it's night and day, absolutely phenomenal. I also previously had a Sony NW-E407 which was a couple of years old and even it sounded far superior to the Sandisk.

Frankly, I wouldn't touch anything other than Sony if sound quality is important to you.

    and

    AndrewH13

Below is a link advertising the Sansa with an FM radio

    http://www.ukdvdr.co.uk/shop/Sandisk-Sansa-MP3-WMA-Player-1Gb-SD-Expandable-pr-19905.html

Although the radio is not essential, I've emailed UKDVDR to check this out.
Will look at the Sony some more.

i've got the sansa e280 and it sounds excellent to me, HOWEVER when i bought it it wasn't great out of the box - sound was tinny and a few other features didn't work properly so you have to update the firmware straight away - after updating it sounds great and works great. Also if you download the sansa updater software off the disc , whenever you plug the sansa into your pc, it auto checks for any latest firmware updates. Battery life is superb too
