Should be officially announced at CES 2009 which takes place on the 8th-11th January 2009. Information on Deciphering the product code is in this post.

Bear in mind the Manuals aren't the final versions which will ship with the TV's, and may not be representitive of the final product. For those that copy these posts to other forums (Celle etc), please make sure people are aware of this.

Warrenty for the UK should be 1 year [link deleted by admin at the request of Samsung] and for Western Europe it should be 2 years [link deleted by admin at the request of Samsung].

New Features for 2009

  • There is a new support menu. It has the user manual, sound/ picture diagnostics, DTV signal meter, HD connections which it lists as "How to get the best performance from your TV.". In the support menu is also a firmware upgrade option and will display the TV's current firmware version. The new style 16:9 colour user manual is in Adobe Flash format and is very easy to navigate via the remote

  • For 100hz (120hz US) Motion Plus there is now a custom setting. This has two options:

    1. Blur Reduction: Adjusts the blur reduction level in video sources.

  • Film Mode. The TV can be set to automatically sense and process film signals from all sources and adjust the picture for optimum quality.

  • Divx Certified. Although the A756/ A856/ A956 supported playing Divx media files, but weren't officially certified as Divx devices.

  • Divx Video On Demand

  • Now supports playback of movies in the following formats upto 1080p: MKV/ WMV/ VOB/ AVI/ TS/ 3GP/ MPG/ ASF

  • Now supports the following video codecs:

    • XviD
    • DivX 3.11/4.x/5.1/6.0/

The B653 should be a cosmetic variation of the B650.

The HDMI to use with PC DVI input has changed to HDMI-1 instead of HDMI-2. Loses USB port for wiselink, now has a USB service port on the rear. The custom colour space in detail menu is no longer availible. No xvYCC colour support. In Colour tone it loses cool1 and cool2, now there is only cool. No PIP/ PAP. No seperate audio in for when using a DVI ==> HDMI cable, now uses the same 3.5mm socket as the VGA does. Has no Headphone socket. 1 Scart socket, no S-VHS.

ziffus when you ll upload the 7 series manual?

I'd be interested in the new series 7 manual.

Just when I was about to buy a tv I spot this thread.

Samung seem to be flooding the market, what about the current tvs? Will these just be classed as last years models?

Will these new tvs have Freesat built in?

Panasonic were the first to have a tv with Freesat and phase 2 is supposed to start in 2009 so all new tvs should have Freesat built in. Hopefully we'll see the new Freesat dvd recorders as well.

I wouldn't touch a Samsung dvd recorder with a barge pole having owned one with all the bugs.

Don't know if 2009 will be better as improvements only seem to be minor rather than anything major on the dvd recorder front. Be nice to have a modern designed interface with PC type graphics and internet access to tv guides which would be faster than over the air. Also built in volatile ram to store the information rather than starting the hard disk up.

Nice post. Not sure if any of those features has me locking my wallet up though, otehr than it might push the price of the current models down further.

Hmmm decisions decisions.

I am only interested in the best pictire performanace and won't even use the internal tuner, never mind the DiVX capabilities etc as this will be connect to a HD Satellite system and HD-Media Player, plus PS3 for BD.

what is divx certified? sorry ? no idea about it..because i play divx movies on my tele from my DVD player ..and i ordered a 686 ....will this tele show my divx movies?
sorry if its a silly question
zaaim

Divx Certified means will play back Divx movies, and has a official sticker from Divx corp. The Samsungs will play Divx movies from a memory stick inserted into the TV's USB slot. It won't have any effect on your DVD player, it will still play Divx files on the A686.

Divx Certified is really just a sticker to help them sell TV's and to help consumers know which TV's have built in Divx playback. The A756, A856, A956 already play Divx files just like the new models, but just aren't Divx certified.

This is the press release on the Divx site announcing that Samsung 2009 TV's will be Divx Certified

DivX, Inc. - Samsung and DivX Announce Agreement to Add DivX Video Support to Leading Line of Digital Televisions

There's still no sign of it yet. It's assumed it's going to be the 200hz CCFL that was shown at IFA, it had a purple touch of colour. These are images someone took of it posted on a German forum:

Ohhhh a new Series 7 with zero to minimal input lag (LED backlit also) = Instant purchase

Think i'll hold out and see what specs get revealed, thanks for the post!

Now supports WMV/ MKV playback :clap::clap:. I think this will please a lot of people, and could really help them sell. A very good move.

I never liked their wine glass look and prefer any tv that has a rectangle frame only.

Sony have spoilt their tvs with the space invader look.
Sharp has the pointy bit.

The new Samsungs look good, when can we expect them in the shops?

CES2009 is ony a week away, guess we'll know about all the up coming tvs and av-gear.

I notice on the first page of the B650 manual "screen burn" is mentioned in a big warning on page 1. If that is the case then why provide photo-viewing?

Also LCDS are not supposed to be effected by screen burn. I have heard of it but never seen it on LCD having owned many monitors and a few tvs.

My LCD monitor displays static images for hours on end. Digital Picture frames do the same.

What is that "certain amount of time"?

Why do manufacturers provide two scart sockets and yet one is only RGB?

Having read through the B650 manual the 650 now has Ethernet which is currently only on the 750+ series so what can the B750 offer that the B650 does not do?
