Theres loads of info on this set, just search these forums and you will find all the info you need. You will get more info this way rather than waiting for members to post. At the price it is being offered it is a steal.

    :D

    Welcome to the forums

No need to apologise for starting a new thread. :D Its always nice to see new faces in the forums  :D

The samsung set has been around for a while now. There should be loads of threads on it. Use the search engine on the top right of the page and search within the DLP section of the forums.

There have been a few different 46' samsung so I wouild recomend searching on the model number first. Then do a wider search after.

    Good luck

Knightsyr is talking about the Samsung SP46L6HX which is supposedly a new 'new' model for the European/UK market. Although it looks as though it was released for the Australian market slightly earlier. Therefore there should be some reviews somewhere surely

Anyway my trip to Makro only confirmed two things:

that I haven't been to Makro in ages & had forgotten what a big jumble-sale type warehouse it is :rotfl:

and that there were no Samsung SP46L6HX DLPs anywhere to be seen

I think I'll only be going back there again if I want to get another headache !!!

This is the standard Makro ploy - put something in the Makro mail that will draw people into store, don't get many, don't get them on time, don't allow people to reserve, don't tell people when they're expected in stock, don't take a customer's name and ring as a courtesy when they come in stock, don't allow access to store managers to get more info from, treat customer like a pest for asking in first place.

Been there, done that, already wearing the T shirt.

Makro is a no thrills cash and carry warehouse not a Hight Street outlet so what do you expect.

Not all, the Charlton staff in electronics are very friendly, esp if you get to know them.

    You're not far wrong !

Didn't see any Samsung SP46L6HX sets but managed to leave with some beer, huge box of washing powder & an electric shaver !!!

Most things in Makro are only cheap when they're on promotional offer. :thumbsdow

I would imagine that it probably would not fit

The width x depth x height dimensions of the set are 1088 x 343 x 814 mm & this is out of the box !

:lesson: Best thing is to put your rear seats down & do some measurements.

Large car, they do not deliver?

This will propably fit in an estate with seats folded down, but will it fit in a normal car, eg Ford Escort? No I dont have a Ford Escort, got an estate jsut asking to know about the size.

Is it possible to order or reserve a set from Makro ? I have a card that I use but I only visit every 3 weeks or so and don't want to keep cjecking the shop when I know they don't have many sets arriving. The Exeter store was sold out this morning when I phoned. I forgot to ask about ordering.

No worry, how long does this Makro mail last? is it usually 2 weeks or 3 weeks?

Hope by a few weeks the craze dies down, I will get mine then, hope its same price or cheaper, and in stock.

Important info. When your transporting the set it must remain upright. Do not lay it on its side. :D

    Hi Shooter1,

So you must have been one of the others in the store about 4ish when I picked up one as well :)

Can you let me know if you can hear the fan on the right hand side of the set when you are watching the set from about 3-4 metres away? Because I can.

    Thanks.

    :D

I think you are meant to keep these sets up right. Maybe someone could confirm. So I would doubt that it would fit.

Edit: Sorry this has already been stated.

LOL... It was me  :rotfl: :rotfl:

Best suggestion is to get a mini cab firm that has mini buses or vans. Allot of companies now offer this service, I first saw this in Ikea in Croydon. If not hire a van for £40-50 for the day.

If you get a DLP will you change your name???? :D

There's also a company called Taxi Vans - http://www.taxi-vans.com/ , I've seen them around recently and they sound like a good idea but I don't have any info on prices, locality etc.

    Hi all,

    The box's dimensions are: 120cm Long X 94cm High X 45cm deep.
Hope that is of help. My suggestion is to get a mate with a big
    camper van

    Yippee! I got one.

Wouldn't fit in the Punto, so I ended up paying Makro £22 to deliver it. Not a bad price considering I live around 15-20 miles away from the store and I can let someone else break their bad unloading it.

Just been in and was told they're waiting on delivery. I was allowed to reserve one of the two sets coming but was also told that the stands haven't arrived in the country yet and would be delivered later.
