hello everyone, :hiya:

okay, i've read just about all the info i can find on the Samsung X30R and the Panasonic SC-PT850. the only difference that concerns me is the upscaling. the samsung upscales to 1080i and the panasonic upscales 1080p. i have the samsung LE52M86BD tv, which is 1080p.

will the difference between 1080i and 1080p be significant enough to warrant spending the extra £150-£200 more on the panasonic?

the price difference between the two models suggests the panasonic is a better machine. is it really that much better?

any suggestions and general thoughts will be thoroughly appreciated and hopefully get rid of the annoying dvd questions and images in my head.

difference between 1080i and 1080p,when watching movies on an lcd..not much.
your tv,will turn an interlaced picture into a progressive one.
the only thing, and its not so much of a problem now,is side to side panning shots, might have a bit of judder, but i say might..as i cant see any judder on my tv,with the 360 playing at 1920x1080i.

i guess i should go for the samsung then. i suppose it matches the tv. feel a little flat over the decision though. seeing the 1080p sticker on the panasonic makes it difficult to ignore.

thanks for replying.

there is virtually zero difference with 1080i and 1080p when playing movies.

Don't mean to butt in here but I've just got off the phone to Dixons and managed to get the Samsung X30R for 165.99(including delivery) after price matching with Komplett.co.uk. The Samsung is in Dixons for £199 (excluding delivery).

Link for information regarding price match:

Hope that helps.

The x30 is currently £150 at dixons... Use the code on the page to knock some money off it...
