    Hi All,

I was chomping at the bit to buy into D-Theatre until I read the attached article.

I think I might just hold off a while longer as it would seem that a Samsung / WM9 based HD-DVD player might not be so very far off after all!

......... I've always liked that nice Mr Gates!

Ah, I replied to your other post over on the D-Theatre thread but yes, my beady eyes too are cast in this direction (remember also that a PC card is due any time soon to accelarate WMA9 eliminating the need for a high-spec cpu).

The only blot on this otherwise rosey horizon is the DRM License - if the studio stick to using a dial-up service in the US, we are as they say screwed until we can get an effective work-around.

Excellent article! Windows Media Video does look at though it's got a good future ahead of it - hopefully it won't be too long before we see HD-DVD releases using the WMV codec. But where will this leave BR-ROM?

I hope that the best quality HD DVD format wins the day and not just the first one out, as we don't want another format war that is never really won! However, WM9 seems good enough for Joe Kane, so...
