Hi, first time poster.. long time lurker. Looking for a bit of help.

I'm looking for a budget TV (£500-£600) after purchasing Philips 49PUS6401 and it crashing regularly or not responding. I'm taking it back today and I'm looking at either of the following -

    UE50KU6000
    49UH650V

This would be for a small living room; movies, TV and limited gaming. Any help would be great.

    Thanks

Samsung has the better contrast but LG better viewing angles.

Panasonic DX-700 is also a possibility at at size.

They are quite different, being a VA panel in the Samsung and IPS in the LG. The LG is also RGBW, which you might want to read up on if you don't know about.

RGB vs. RGBW LCD and the 4K Ultra HD Designation

Generally speaking, IPS is better for viewing angles, but blacks are better with VA... assuming you sit pretty much straight on. Also the lighting conditions can factor in, with darker rooms favouring VA, but with more natural light then IPS can be prefereable, although it's often a subjective thing. The Samsung is likely to have better response times for gaming. Samsung generally win out when it comes to recommending a TV for gaming for this reason. As Dodge mentions, the Panasonic is a good option also, and it's a VA panel.
