Thanks

Just home from picking one of these up and have set it up. To be honest out the box the picture is poor compared to my old LG 32" LED. Have tried to fiddle with settings but not got anything that's great.

Any tips? Doesn't seem to be much help on the web

Haha think its just you and me with this tv. Same here can't find any info
On the web, think the picture quality Is ok on SD and better in HD, blu ray and 3d
Were amazing, but getting some blur now and then need to learn what
settings best as there are lots to choose from, I'll get back to you if I can figure
Anything out

Hey mp6 I've had a mess while watching the football
And finally settled on my settings seems standard settings
Are poor so I changed to this :

Menu, picture mode - movie

Picture options, colour tone - warm 2
Motion plus - smooth
Led motion plus - on

I also had to do it again for sky hd+box and ps3
On the different sources, hope that helps, let me know
If you find any good settings as I am still learning too lol

Just had a go with those settings and they still weren't great.

How was it watching the football with those settings? Am starting to worry that it's not going to be good for sport

Watching TV is great, but will watch a lot of sport and thought the 200Hz would handle it well

Hi mp6, what source are you using? I found the football
Was better on sky itvhd than freeview maybe it was the
Weather last night, had no problems think the picture
And clarity was good, overall in my opinion think its a good tv
For the price I paid 499pounds, I will keep testing settings
And see if I find anything better

I'm using Sky and through the HD channels too (only the basics)

Paid £499 too, perhaps I'm expecting too much!

Just realized sky output is only1080i that sucks,
tried it on auto and 720p but seems 1080i is the best
Output on sky,
I agree even though its a entry level 3d tv think it could
Be better I never got any blur on my old Samsung
LE40R73BD never even knew it existed haha

I wasn't even bothered by the 3D, to me that was just an add-on. I got it for the 200hz processing which we don't seem to be getting

I wonder if people who got a SAMSUNG UE40ES5500 have the same problems
As we do, its basically the same tv with smart functions
Instead of 3d, just looking at the spec on comet and it says framerate
50hz and software accelerated frame rate 100hz so guessing
Ours is really 100hz accelerated to 200hz

Only difference seems to be that model has 'Hyper RealEngine' to aid picture enhancement. Ours doesn't.

There must be a set of settings somewhere...

Hey mp6 did you manage to sort any settings, there
Are so many to choose from, I did manage to watch
Lasts nights footy with no blur and played mw3 on ps3
And that was really good

Not yet sadly. Can you let me know each of your settings please?

Looking to take it back for a plasma otherwise, although Richer Sounds that I bought it from do a 15% penalty for open box returns

Yes I will do when I get tv back my lads watching a film
Defo post them before the footy so you can try them.
Did RS have the tv on display? The shop I went to didn't
So I said how am I ment to know what its like and they
Said I could take it for 14 days with no penalties if I return
It.

No RS didn't have it out, should really have asked about it.

Just played FIFA on XBox and the ball was noticeably blurry at times.

Really disappointing

Hey mp6, this is my settings for football, firstly i set the output on sky to
1080i then on the tv I reset picture

Picture mode - movie

Advanced settings
Dynamic contrast - off
Black tone - off

Picture options
Colour tone - warm 2
Motion plus - off
Led motion plus - on

Don't think I changed anything else ,That's just for football I'll try post game settings later

Thanks, will use for the football tonight and see how it works. Colour looks a bit washed out and the screen overall darker compared to the other standard settings, but like I say we'll see.

I went over to Comet today and had a look at the picture on the TV in the store - it was awful. He said he thought the real panel was 50hz and that companies are almost now trying to baffle people with their own refresh rates. He showed me a 100hz Panasonic for £800 and he said out of the pair he'd choose the Samsung but that there should be some blur expected with all non-plasma TVs.

Why couldn't it just be perfect when we plugged it in?!

hey guys, you're not alone with this one. I've not long got this TV too in our house.
Got to say, so far it's a pain in the ass. So many damned settings, which you have to alter for each source.
Our main concern is that we are forwarding our Virgin Media though as SD (it's an old box) and to be honest it's quite fuzzy, compared to having it on our Panasonic HD TV.

Got any tips on how to make SD fairly sharp and less, well crap. Without just using the sharpness setting mind, because that usually leads to streaks.

Another thing is, I'm not sure if you guys have had this problem or not but, when using 3D. One layer of depth is always double visioned. Whether it b background or foreground. When playing the PS3, the effect settings have to put down to next to nothing to get a decent all round none doubled picture. Any hint on what to fiddle with to alter this.

P.S We're definitely sitting 2 metres+ away from the TV

Hey fm93 try my last settings for football with colour
Up to your taste, I've been messing with them for a week
Now, they work best for me on sky HD and seem ok on the
SD channels

Only watched Hugo 3d and no problems it looked amazing

I'll post game settings later as the footy run late last night

Football looked decent on it last night which was good.

Just went to Comet to look at Plasmas and the assistant directed me towards the model of LED we've got for sport as at the £500 budget it will do much better. He did say the 200hz was a genuine one where the Plasmas upgrade to 600hz, but I'm pretty certain ours is 50hz scaled up to 200hz

The footbal may have looked good. But the match itself wasn't haha.
Yeh it turns out that it was the Virgin Media box itself that had chnaged it settings to output in composite. Blurring the image a bit.

As for the 3D i think I'm just gonna have to tweek some settings till it doesn't give me double vision. You guys get the same problem at all?

Game settings

Picture mode - natural

Picture options
Colour tone - standard
Dnf - auto
Mpeg nf - auto
Hdmi bl - low
Motion plus - off

Don't think I changed anything else maybe colour up to your
Preference.
