I'm confused what's the difference between this and the JS9000 in a nutshell?

yeah just quad core - might be worth getting this one if you don't use Smart TV (which I don't really as I have a HTPC which is 4K ready, other than the Blu-ray player)

Dont think it will stop you using smart tv as wasnt last years models quad core, i presume it just wont be as nippy at doing it.

So it's still HDR, what about the blacks and local dimming, same as the JS9000?

I reckon between them all this is prob the better one as mention earlier esp if not fussed about smart TV - it will still work just slower. I will be very interested in the reviews of this TV

Hi, first post here, but long time reader...
Just this morning received this model: Ue48js8500
So far very satisfied with the set.
No backlight bleed, pixel issues, banding, clouding etc.
After last years experience with a ue65hu7500 model, which had terrible verticle banding, display replacement (verticle banding remained), some minor corner bleed, I could not believe that samsung is capable of producing this level of quality again.
The quad core processor could be a bit snappier on the smart apps side, but it feels the same as last years model I mentioned.
Unfortunately no plex yet, which is a pain for me, but in the plex forum someone contacted samsung and it should arrive soon.
I am on US country setting, netflix, amazon instant is already available, streams 4k great. (Hbo go, vudu, crackle is all there)
Do not like the new remote, last years smart remote was much better in my opinion.
Its got great black, and the upscaling works great.
Youtube first struggled a but then streamed great in 4k.
      Sound is nothing special.
Now I am watching a movie with black bars in total darkness, and no bleeds, clouding at all.
I was afraid to order a big size set this year, due to last years problems, instead I moved the tv closer to the bed :) (it is in the bedroom)
I am very curios whether it is a good model or I was just lucky to receive a good set...
Sorry for my English, it is my second language.

One more thing, which might be important for some, and I was bit dissapointed about this.
The one connect mini box comes with a much shorter cable, than the normal one connect box.
I only found info on the lenght of the normal one connect box cable lenght before purchase, which should be 3m. This one is about half of that.

My 48 arrived today too and so far it seems to be a good upgrade over the 7 year old Sony. I had originally gone for the 9000 but the silver looked completely out of place in our living room so swapped for the 8500. Just watched an episode of Game of Thrones and the quality was fantastic. About to sit down and watch Interstellar so will be interested to see how that looks. Not completely sold on the curved screen yet but as i have a sonos system the 5.1 passthrough from HDMI to optical is essential and I don't think the new Panasonic's have this feature. The wife would veto anything larger than 50inch so the new Sony's are out.

As a second point I notice that the prices for Samsung's in the US have drop by $500-$1000 depending on the set, any indications of that happening over here?

In my case they did threw in a free samsung galaxy s6 edge phone if/when I register the device on their mysamsung site, which I always due anyways. I guess price reduction will follow this promotion here, so something similar should happen in other markets in Europe I guess.
(I also got a free 32 inch samsung h series hd ready tv for as well from the retailer. Happy about the purchase I must say)

So did any one buy the 55 version?
Also what is this like for watching football and gaming I heard the input lag is only 22.1ms.

Just got the 48" model and was wondering if anyone has any settings recommendations for when I watch sport in particular football (soccer). It seems to lag somewhat and is a bit jumpy in places.

Just got the 65'' model, pretty pleased with the picture but still fine tuning it. Main gripes at the moment are with some of the firmware. Freesat recording does not always work and when it does it does not always autostop (so back to using my non CEC Humax), Amazon app keeps crashing at the end of programmes, Netflix sometimes comes up with error messages. Overall very happy with it and the missus approves too.

I've noticed that lag and jump in places too. Any setting recommendations from anyone would be great!

Also, any UK owners dissapointed that the BBC iPlayer, News and Sports apps arent available yet, along with ITV Player?

No lag or jump on my set and getting iplayer etc via my sony bluray player which is not ideal but acceptable short(ish)term. Could not get the guide function to work on TV (freeview or freesat) after a few days but found that when I programmed my logitech harmony remote and started using it the guide function worked, not only on the harmony remote but on the Samsung remotes as well...very odd!

The iPlayer app has finally arrived! No sign of the other catch-up apps, though. It's a shame the iPlayer app doesn't support the smart remote pointer.
