Samsung to show OLED and Google TV at CES 2012?

Not content with its current market leading offerings in Smart TV, Samsung have announced they're very close to launching a Google TV and it looks set to be unveiled at the upcoming CES in Vegas next January. It's a good fillip for Google TV, that has just been updated to Version 2.0 in the wake of it being labelled a 'beta' by box manufacturer Logitech last week.

Currently it's only Sony TVs that offer any Google goodness and then only to a limited degree. Google 2.0 should ensure that there will be a wide variety of apps and media streaming options from the off. The web browsing experience should see a marked improvement also.

Yoon Boo-keun, president of Samsung's TV division, told reporters that the company planned to show its Google TV 'at an event next year' and CES 2012 has to be favourite. He also said that Samsung's Google TV service 'would differ from those of competitors' but didn't elaborate further.

Probably more excitingly Yoon announced Samsung is to exhibit their first OLED displays at CES to be held in January in Las Vegas. Phil and Steve will be well on that case!

There's still a few weeks to go before CES so expect the hype to start building from here.
