I'm sorry to start up yet another thread on the Samsung LExxR41/51 problem, but I didnt want this to get lost in the huge thread already running!

I have created a petition online, and would like people who have this TV to sign it. I think this way we can get real numbers of who is experiencing this problem.

    HERE

Please sign it if you are an owner or soon to be owner of this TV.

I will also email Samsung with the link to the petition so they can view it.
Any comments etc, please PM me!

Any chance of a Mod pinning this???

What if we really like the TV apart from the tearing?! I'd like to keep it, cos it's the only thing letting it down. Besides, it looks great in my house.

Come on people, only ten signatures so far...

I like the TV too apart from the tearing but you're dealing with a company that doesn't deserve loyal customers. If you keep the TV they don't care but if people start returning these sets because of the fault, then they will care. You can always buy it again if the tearing is fixed.

    Signed!
    - Have you thought about approaching watchdog or some governing body eg: trading standards. I see the situation as this: A product is sold with the claim that it can perform certain tasks. In this case display 720p signals via component @ 60Hz etc etc .If it cannot do this without fault then the product is not fit for the purpose for which it was sold. They HAVE to make good on that or give you your money back irrespective of how long ago you purchassed the set, Otherwise this is false advertising and a slap on the wrist from trading standards should be heading their way!

Thats a good idea to get Trading Standards involved!

I wouldnt be able to do this myself, the petition is the only thing I can really do for this cause, but if someone else wants to go ahead and give it a try then I think everyone here would back them!

I really don't understand people on this forum. You know the Samsung TV has a fault which has been reported since early June and still hasn't been fixed. Yet, you still want to go ahead and buy it and hope Samsung will fix it by getting trading standards/watchdog involved? How can you complain to Trading Standards/Watchdog if you purchased it knowing there's a fault?

Have you been able to fully test the TV at a 720p resolution at 60HZ?

    Hi, just a quick qu.....

I'm really interested in the Samsung telly, to the point where I'm pulling my credit card outta my wallet having found it for £625 brand new.

Am concerned about this tearing problem, how and when does it occur???

Any other recommendations on a similar spec telly for a similar price as above, which does not have this worrying tearing problem!?!?!?!

It differs...it seems from set to set....

It happens in my case rarely and lasts for a second or two...also it only seems to happen in high defination modes such as 720p using a Xbox or I believe HDMI DVD player. I dont think anyone has seen it happen in PC or standard TV modes.

I posted this in the main mammoth Samsung thread, but not sure how many people saw it. This is Samsungs reply when I emailed about this tearing issue :

"Thank you for contacting Samsung Electronics.

    [Solution]

    Cust Ref: 2101041035

With reference to your email regarding tearing on the LE32R41B, as
previously advised this is considered to be a fault with the TV and is
not a firmware issue. If this fault occurs on a unit, we repair the unit
    under warranty.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

I hope this has been of some assistance to you. If you do have any
further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Kind Regards
    Gordon Mcdonald

Seems to be quite alot of faults then!!

I havent sene the issue at all, like many others. But sign anyway, because you never know. According to Samsung in the Netherlands it IS a firmware issue. Only being present on the first bunch of models shipped. Because VGA has no problems, its clearly a software (DNIe) problem. They might not admit it is firmware problem, because it would make it Samsungs duty to send an engineer instead of sending the unit to the service center.

Well i'm really pleased with my set. Hopefully i will be as pleased with my Xbox360 set up.

In order to test further: If i was to run a PAL DVD in 720p or higher at 60hz would this be likely to cause tearing or would I need to run an NTSC source?

Man, why would I be a Samsung representive? I am just saying that XBMC has a tearing problem. You must understand that many people are using softmodded Xboxes with a bad version of XBMC. Some peopel actually have a TV set with tearing, others just have tearing while watching movies with their modded Xbox, wich is because the older XBMC has a bug.
