Due to some picture proboems I'm having I'd like to get into the service menu to see if using the "factory reset" cures the problem. Using the "Mute, 1, 8, 2, power" method that I've read in several places won't work though. Is there another code I can try? Or some other way into the service menu? What might I be doing wrong? I also tried another sequence of buttons that won't work.

    Any help gratefully received!

Where did you read about this problem? I'd be interested to take a look myself. What did it say was the solution?

I also saw the "info, menu, mute, power" way to access the service menu, but I can't make it work.

Well, I've tried entering the service menu in every way I can, and no matter what speed I press the buttons, it won't work. What could I be doing wrong?

    HI DLP Girl,

Press the Menu button and go to Picture settings. Select the "Custom" option (2nd one down) and this will take you to the picture settings.

    Hope this helps.

I also cannot access the service menu on my SP46 via the info-menu-mute-power combo. Any ideas please, I'd really like to see how much hours are on the bulb.

I have the SP-50L6HX and the <Info.Menu.Mute.Power> does bring you to service menu. But there is a catch: you can only do this when the lamp unit is complete shut-off. If the unit is already up, put it back on stand-by but wait till the lamp is shut (screen goes completely dark) or better yet do it on your first power up. That should work (at least for mine). ;)

Its strange as on powering the TV up on the first time, mine goes to stand-by for about 2 seconds and then switches on automatically - it does not stay in stand-by
