Having had the above TV for about three weeks, I have now decided to purchase a Yamaha DSP-AX757SE 7.1 channel amplifier.

Bearing in mind the tv is mounted on a central pedestal I am unsure as to the best position for the centre speaker and would be interested in the thoughts/experiences of other members.

    Cheers

If your set is against a wall I'd suggest wall mounting the speaker above the set, angled down toward the listening area.

Some people place the speaker on its end to the side of the center pedestal, but a speaker this close to the floor is going to have its sound quality compromised somewhat, particularly if the room is thickly carpeted.

Looks good indie24. Putting the centre speaker on its end looks ok.

How do you rate the SP50?

We have egg type celestion speakers, with the centre on the glass platform, so right next to the floor - still sounds great, and intial concerns we had over localising the centre sound as not with the screen proved not to be an issue, so are now planning to leave it there. For context though, we have no carpet, just a wood floor, and had L&R speakers that are at screen height.

    Cheers

Thanks for the pictures / ideas. The pictures look just like mine - ie the TV completely dwarfs the room, in fact it is now referred to as the home cinema since I can't really call it a lounge anymore.

Considering the Samsung is such a good looking TV it does seem a shame that they invariably end up cluttered with all the other gear. Lets face it the additional stand supplied is pretty crap as is demonstrated perfectly in the picture supplied by Indie24. It looks beautiful of course but is just too damn small to fit anything on.

I must say I am considering putting most of my gear on a separate stand as per br14n.

As for the centre speaker, I might try mounting something like the Arena on top of the TV (Angle bracket with Blue Tack type thing).

Well for starters on this set they're almost 4 feet apart so that negates the term "centre" speaker.

Additionally to obtain a cohesive, integrated front soundstage, the centre speaker should be similarly "voiced" with the front left and right, which is why you should attempt to go for the same make of speakers for your front three.
