Many thanks to JMMH, who posted the new price in another thread, as he has just saved me £200. I bought my set a week ago for approx £2200, but the Sammy is now £1999 incl. The tosh is around £50 more. Could it be that the impending new model is driving its price down to very affordable levels.

saint65, I've seen it in Manchester, Oldham and Leeds.

deltafx, they wanted to see payslips, utility bill or some other id from my job when I joined (2001) BUT I don't know how strict they are now.

empire direct and robertsons online are now both selling for less than £2000, no need to jump through hoops to get through the door at costco !!

Pixmania.co.uk are doing the SP50 for £1752 plus you can use a discount code for £70 off if you spend over £1700 (pixuk050504 valid until 18th May).

Also pixmania typically give a 2 year warranty.

thats very tempting but it appears that IF anything does go wrong .. your TV travels all the way to france and sits in a warehouse until it is repaired .. another worrying factor is the fact that the samsung number displayed on the site doesnt work !!!
But thanks for the info !!
