This had been discussed at depth but the consensus is that the L6 uses the latest HD4 chip.

It still uses the HD3 chip.

I'll think you'll find that the L6 range uses the newer HD4 chip.

The SP-50L6HR which is available in the Philippines uses the HD3 chip. I think its the same set as SP-50L6HX, which is available in other Asian countries.

How do you know it uses the HD3 chip? The dead giveaway for it being HD4 is the native contrast ratio of 2000:1. The HD3 chip can only achieve 1500:1 as in the older SP46L3HX model. If you read the other posts on this you'll see the various documented evidence of the use of HD4.

Having said that I can't comment on models sold outside of the UK.

The SP-50L6H series which uses the Panel type 0.55" DMD, uses the HD3 chip as specified on the Philippine samsung website. It has a contrast ratio of 2000:1. and if u look at this forum (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=493443) and look for the 64 series released in Canada, it states that the HD3 chip dlp tv is capable of a contrast ratio of up to 2000:1.
