Just trying to get some more Samsung sp46l3hx threads going as there are not many

General questions to anyone with a sp46l3hx

    1. What in your experience are the pros and cons of this set in?

    2. Does it have an HDMI port? (online retaliers seem to list it as DVI)

    3. Is it HDCP compatible?

    4. How is picture + sound quality?

    5. Whats the cheapest location to buy that you know of?

Lets get some momentum behind this set if people are happy with it

pros for me, no side speakers to worry about, nice slim black bezel, does not interfear with the picture.
Cons, none that i can think of.
Yup it sure does. I have just hooked up the Sammy Hd945 dvd player to it and playback is very very clear and crisp.
As far as i am aware it is, atleast i hope it is.
Pq never seems to amase me, it is that good, even Motors tv on Sky looks pretty good, watched my first F1 GP on it today and it was fantastic. Sound is very nice to, quite a few adjustments can be made to suit your tastes, standard settings have a bit to much Bass.
I had the 2 week old Demo from Currys, did not want to wait 4-6 wks delivery, i got it for £1699.

Over all the set has exceeded my expectations. IMHO you can not go to far wrong with this set.

Lets get some momentum behind this set if people are happy with it

    Destix,

If you make a search for 'SP46L3HX', you'll find a pretty long thread detailing this model.

I've already included my comments (so far I have nothing but praise for it). I presume you have some sort of availability problems on this model in the UK because I'm sure it should be featuring here much more than it is.

    Nice Destix,

The price in the UK is basically the same we get it here in Malta.

I'm sure you'll be positively impressed.

I have viewed this tv at my dad's. He has a Sony freeview box going through and the picture is quite clear. There appears to be some sort of smudging effect going on with the darker areas, someone else mentioned this regarding the 50" version. DVD going through component was excellent and the XBox plus PC was also of a high standard. Haven't tried the HDMI input yet. The only down sides at the moment is I can see lots of RGB rainbows, once you see them its difficult not to stop concentrating waiting for another to pop up. Both my Mum and Dad cannot see them and I put that down to age and eye wear & tear as they are both pensioners. The side viewing on this is excellent, although once you stand up you do lose a bit of brightness. Other than that I think this is a very good tv for the price. Personally I think this is the best looking set also, if you cannot see the tv from the side it looks just like a plasma.

The smudges Jonesey is refering to are really air stuck between the TV's protective screen and fresnel screen. They are really a non-issue because they disappear after the set has been on for 10 minutes or so and are slightly visible on very light scene colours (like white or grey). I've never seen any smudges on mine but just in case.....

The two screen design on the other hand gives you a very non-reflective screen therefore you should be able to watch the TV in very bright areas.

As for rainbows, this is a problem with single chip DLP thus if you see them on a model, you'll probably see them on all of them.

Hi i have had my sammy 46" dlp for about 2 weeks now,and i have had to exchange it because now and again the picture goes funny like a slow motion effect, for example the text bar that goes across the bottom on sky news runs smoothly then every so often it jutters for a while and i also have noticed it on other programmes aswell, the engineer came out and said it could be the processor playing up,but i run a denon dvd thorough component leads and it is excellent watching films through.ijust hope the new 1 doesnt jutter like this 1 does, any1 else had this problem?

    Lion :hiya:

You are actually right there Lion it does come bundled with a stand, there are a few posts mentioning that. Optoma are looking to include a manual with their RD range soon as an insentive for people to buy the set. :D
