Reviewers in the USA are going crazy over this projector.

I had been considering a SIM2 HT300 (to replace my Sony VPL-VW10HT LCD)- but it won't throw a large enough image in my room (so much for the "long throw lens"- great if you live in a warehouse conversion!) so I was in a state of indecision - the Immersive Virtuoso seemed to be a good option but now this Samsung looks favourite.

Anyone know anything about it - any idea when it will be available in the UK?

Last I heard it was still being fine tuned. Joe Kane (he of Video Essentials fame) wants the projector to be as near perfect as possible "out of the box" and won't agree to its release until it meets his very high standards.

I also think they are now fitting the HD2+ chip which is an improvement over the HD2 chip.

You're right, this is THE dlp to get if you have the money. I think its due in January - its likely to be well worth the wait if you can hang fire 'til then.

MSRP in USA is $10,000 - by time you factor in discounting over there then I guess you will see these units going for about $7500 - NOW if this was a US made product then I'd expect this price to translate to £stg i.e £7500 (all high end video/audio kit seems to have a straight £:$ conversion - KRELL, Lexicon, Levinson),

HOWEVER this kit won't, I believe, be made in the States, so I think Samsung's European pricing will be more competitive (it will be interesting to see what prices Samsung quote in Russia where they've already started the marketing!) I'm therefore with ShinObiWAN in that it will be circa £6k after discounts.

£6k  Should put pressure on the other manufacturers in this price range.

Still leaves a gap in the £3 to £4.5k range though.

...Kramer looks forward to Z10k prices dropping soon.......

£5,000 to £6000 would kill ALL the higher-end DLP competition stone dead! But lets wait and see, I think it will be higher but I'm guessing.

I must admit, I can't see the high price of DLP's (say £6k and above) being sustained for much longer, they simply aren't worth that sort of money. They are fast becoming consumer level mass-produced products like never before and the market is beginning to get very competitive in the $5000 to $7500 range. Its only a matter of time 'til we see the benefits of this competion at this side of the pond.

I keep saying it but the BenQ at under £5000 is the way it will be within say 6 months or so, certainly for HD2 chipped machines.

Just read a review of this BenQ and they thought it bit noisy which ain't gonna help sales. Will try to find the review again and list it.

RE: Samsung - Lets hope PriJap get in on the action?!

The noise problem is about to be (or possibly has been)addressed with new firmware - BenQ engineers acknowledged the problem surprisingly quickly.

Not sure we'll see this as a PriceJapan product, don't think they can get it any cheaper than it is here :(

I don't know where Samsung will be building this kit???

I guess Price Japan will only be offering it cheaply if it's made in Japan??? (Don't know what the import duties are like from Korea into Japan if indeed this is where Samsung will build it?)

Samsung will soon follow up the PJ with a WM9 (HD) capable DVD player I believe, so we can play T2 in HD straight from a stand alone player!! Let's hope more titles follow. I hope the rainbow issue has been addressed with the SP-H700A?

I have a BenQ PE8700 and I like it a lot. If I didn't have it, I'd wait for the PE8710 (HD2+) or even get a Mitsubishi LVP-D2010 from Japan for £3.6K + VAT
