Samsung SHR-5042 - hard drive problems

Hi,


I have the Samsung SHR-5042 DVR connected to my CCTV cameras.

It's virtually untouched in a safe place but one day I looked at it and it had stopped recording. I did the usual of checking the cables, unplugging and restarting without luck. :(


First I started getting a message asking me if I wanted to format the hard disk? i said no and nothing happened. next time i chose yes and now i get a message along the lines of "...hard drive not detected." :rolleyes:


Anything to try/do/check before assuming the hard drive is gone??? Nothing found in manuals/sumsung website.
