I realise there will probably be just a few threads somewhere about the series 5 but as I only just registered, I'm not too sure where to look so I apologise.

Basically, I am a year on from when I first looked into buying a TV and guess what...I still have my trusty CRT!

I need a new LCD, 37-40" and I have been looking down multiple routes and I am so bewildered by the amount of choice I have, which is why I still havn't made my purchase.

I've seen a deal on the Samsung series 5, and I understand its slightly outdated now, but would it still be a good purchase?

My main criteria is, xbox360, pc monitor, DVDs/Blu ray, possible sky input eventually.
I love sport, and this is one of the main things holding me back as I still havnt seen a tv that copes well enough.
I dont know enough about these specs to make a decision, things like "ratios", "framerates" and "1080p/i 720p/i", just throw me instantly.

If any of you experts out there could advise whether this would be a perfect purchase for me that would be great. Otherwise, if you could recommed a better model for approx £600ish , that would also be appreciated.
