samsung q96/97 Vs panny px70

hi looking for a new plasma for under £1000 after returning my panny th42-px60.

can anyone tell me the pros and cons of these 2.

but theres still no in depth reviews there 4 samsung,

but what im looking to get in this thread is comparisons(mainly pq related) between the px70 and the samsung ps42Q96/97 from people who have owned both(or had experiance with both).

go over the US, avsforum.com, and search up "Samsung" and "4254" or "4264". The latter 2 numbers basically are the US equivalents of our PS42C97 and PS42Q97. I spent some time this morning reading user views on the new Sammys, and people seem very happy on the whole. Several posters claim to have seen them next to PX70s in the shops, and claim the Samsungs looked better. (But what do you expect, they're owners now!)

i think in us they really do look for quantity rather than quality, rear projection tvs are still the bigest sellers in us apparently(just going of what ive read in other threads!).

no, the 42px70 can receive 1080p via HDMI, that's 100% sure!
The new samsung can't... Though it won't make too much difference on their 1024 panel

No, you can choose the Blu-Ray player to output 720p.

Are you certain that PX70 has HDMI 1.3? No mention about the version in the official site so i thought it was 1.2a.

EmThor, do you have a grudge against Samsung plasmas? I just wonder why you mention the 1080i limitation of the Sammy but don't mention:
-- that it has 3 hdmi instead of 2
-- that it has a headphone socket
-- and digital audio output
and generally seems spec'd closer to the PX700 than the Px70 ?

I think Yannis is right about the PX70 being only 1.2, and I also think it shouldn't matter much on anyone's 1024 panel - including Pana

To give the PX70 credit where deserved, both its Scarts are RGB whereas the Samsung only has 1 of the 2 RGB enabled.

Proof will be in the viewing; give Samsung a chance!

hi,
samsung ps42-Q97HDX now available at sound&vision.com for£818(inc.p&p),

they also have the samsungPS42-C96HDX at the slightly higher price of £828!, im confused now though as i thought the C96 was a lesser version of the Q97(or96) and the specs do show the c model has 2 hdmi inputs(the Q97 has 3) and the c model has a filterbright screen(the Q97 has Ultra filterbright).

Im pretty sure id prefer this tv now over the panasonic px70, the specs are higher on the samsung(other than the 1080i the px70 has), and the samsung is around couple of hundered £ cheaper in most places, which would leave me more £ left over for a new surround system and possibly a plasma stand/wall bracket.

still waiting for a few reviews though!!!Anybody!!!
