    Hi all,

I'm after a 50" plasma, and have been looking at the Q96/Q97 and C96 50" models (viewing 12 feet away btw)

Having read both owners threads i'm finding it hard to choose between them. The only real differences i can see in the Q are extra HDMI, Ultra filter Bright on the Q and better speakers on the Q 50".

It seems reading through the owners thread that the Q suffers from more problems than the C.
As both can be had for about the same price, it's difficult to choose.

Can anyone give any comments on which would be best suited and to avoid any issues, are the extra features of the Q worth it ?

Just for info, it will be used mainly with SKY+ SD source, and component DVD for now. Later maybe Xbox and HDMI DVD player.

    Thanks for any info.

    Hi

    Differences C vs Q
    cheaper remote vs. programmable remote
filter bright vs. ultra filter bright
movie mode vs. movie plus mode
2 HDMI on the back vs 2 HDMI on the back + 1 on the side

Some people have been having problems with the stripes of ultra filter bright on Q series. The C-series seems not affected by this because it doesnt have them.

The only other thing of note is that the speakers are better on the Q series than the C series.

Only other thing worth mentioning is that the plasma does has an issue when watching sport with a round ball ie football. It appears not to process the image when the ball is kicked up in the air against the crowd.

Only an issue if you watch a lot of sport.

The filter is said to greatly reduce the reflections on the q series but some people say they can still see the filter pattern when watching the TV

    regards

Is this a problem common to both the C and Q series?

    In Short - yes

It only seems to affect round balls when they are against a crowd though

Dont get me wrong its fine with all DTV broadcast apart from that one issue

It really doesnt bother me that much unless you are watching Millwall LOL

    regards

i got my 50"Q97 on monday.and I'm very disappointed with the sound quality.
messed about with it and it still sounds crap.
so I'm just using my ysp 800 full time for the sound..
if this is supposed to have the better sound the C model must be v poor..

    Thanks for the info.

I'll continue to look into both.
Not worried about sound, as I always go through an AMP anyway.
Football could be an issue, as I watch quite a bit.
Will have to try and view them both somewhere first.

Does the Q97 and C/Q6 use the same panel?

Nevermind. I'm heading towards the panasonic. I dont have a big budget and i found a model 300€ cheaper that should have the same panel, but with less contrast and only one hdmi port, which suits my needs.
I'll make another thread because the search returned 0 results, i suspect it's a model only for italian market.
