Question Samsung Q6FN - Honest thoughts please

I have been eyeing up one of Samsung's 2018 QLED models for a long time now - and I mean a long time. It's a close call between the Q6FN and the Q7FN. However, I think I've decided on the Q6FN for a couple of reasons:

- Q7FN has the one connect box, which given I'll only be connecting a games console to it, seems an unnecessary addition to the set up
- I've read multiple times that the Q7FN is not a good choice for dark rooms - I mainly game late at night so any clouding would be a big issue for me personally. I know this is an issue across the board with all edge lit TVs, but I'm lead to believe the Q7 is particularly bad

The TV will be used exclusively for gaming with a PS4 Pro. I will be sitting central to the screen approximately 6ft away. I like the screen real estate offered with the 55" and with it being the 120hz panel, frame interpolation will be available when in game mode (I think) so should make for a smoother overall experience? However, I don't want the TV to dominate the room too much so have also been looking at the 49".

Is the extra £200 worth spending for the 55"?

Any advice for a really indecisive noob would be really appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,
Ben.

Correct re interpolation on 55”, not on 49”.

Q7 is brighter than Q6. They’re both as likely to suffer from clouding given the backlight system is basically the same with the difference being the leds are more powerful on the Q7.

Edit: if you think Q6 is way to go seriously consider the NU8000 which is far cheaper and gives 95% of Q6 performance

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into the NU8000 series.

I'm looking at upgrading from a 40" ES8000 Samsung TV. Is a 'budget' 2018 QLED TV likely to be better than a 2012 flagship LED TV with no 4K or HDR?

It won’t be better with SD as the scaler is working overtime. HD and better it will more than likely be better. It will obviously be better with hdr.

DVDs may look ok, but broadcast SD will be poor.
