It seems this will be the next big thing. I'm just trying to work out why such a device would need such a high resolution? Surely this would make playing a 1080p movie blurred on the screen?

Samsung has fit a version of its upcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet with a high-resolution screen that will rival high-end screens such as Apple's retina displays.

The company is set to demonstrate the new tablet-computer display at the SID Display Week conference next week in Los Angeles, showing off a 2560 x 1600 resolution, with 300 dpi (dots per inch, which is a measure of how many pixel can fit in a square inch).

The pixel density (PPI) would mean a 1080p video would look great... in fact, I'd go as far as saying movie performance probably wont benefit or lose out on resolutions like this, as long as the graphics chipset can drive it well enough.

It will be a while before we see this resolution on production-ready tablets though, this is just a prototype. It also needs other hardware and software changes to make it effective.

Bring it on though! The higher the resolution the better, IMO.
