This is a step up from the D450 you asked about in the other thread in the sense that it is full HD 1080P. This should be a better TV for your money.

No glasses was told there would be some in the box but questioned when tv arrived have since found out you dont get any. You will also need this years glasses as last years 3d glasses are infered and this years models use blue tooth to connect to tv. Bought my glasses on line from direct tvs had them at 49 pound each on offer have seen online somewhere tv 2 pairs of glasses and 5 year warrenty if you do as i did it took 5 days looking on line reviewing tvs and as i said i purchesed this tv from e shop brookers had never used them before and it was alot of money to spend on something i could not find any reveiws from from a shop i had not heard of, i ran them up the guy i spoke to was very help full and i said about my concerns of tv but took my chance and as i said very good tv

Very happy with the TV, easy setup. Tried a few films on the USB stick and they work great with an easy to use menu.
Xbox 360 has a great picture and is 100 times better than my last TV
Should get the glasses delivered on Monday so can try out the 3D side. Will also set up the PS3 and hopefully have the speakers delivered so should be able to do more of a write up
So far though I would recommend the TV but it is early days

I'm looking at this too rather than the D6900. I'm not fussed about the extras just a solid tv with a good picture for a decent price. Was initially looking at the 6900 but there always seems to be something wrong with whatever you look at so....I'll be upgrading from an HD Ready Samsung 50 that was expensive in its day and got great reviews but the model has an inherent fault with showing darker colours...that I found out the hard way!

Anyway, I'm presuming the only differences with the higher models is smart/internet tv bits and bobs is it? Am interested in the hd pictures and 3d info regarding glasses and prices etc.

This TV - the 51" model - has gone straight to number one on my list of purchase options after I've seen the initial price level set by the couple of stores here in Denmark, that have it available for pre-order.
There's a 13 page thread on AVS Forum about this model and there's also a whole lot of positives there - although also complaints from some people with sets suffering from buzzing noises and "floating blacks". But hey, it's Samsung, some faulty sets are to be expected I'm sure :) - and I imagine that probably applies to the more expensive models as well.

Am I right in gathering that the potentially noteworthy differences between the 550 and the 6900 are:
    No Samsung Internet Apps
    No built in wifi
    Worse anti-glare... filter... screen... thingie
    Perhaps slightly less impressive blacks

    And that's about it?

I think the only official differences are the internet apps (smart tv) and the built in wifi like you say....and Freeview HD, but there seems to be alot of confusion about this and certainly Freesat HD in general with all the early models.

Well, the Freeview thing is irrelevant to me here in Denmark. And I switched from wifi to cabled a couple of years ago because it provided a much faster and more stable connection for my PS3, and while I'm not entirely sure what the Internet apps have to offer (if it's similar to iPhone/iPod Touch apps I'll probably find 99.9% of them completely useless) I can't really imagine I'll find myself missing the option much.

So unless there's a an actual image quality difference - 2D or 3D - or other significant performance or feature differences, it seems I have little reason to pay more for the 6900. Although if the prices do end up being very close (it's a bit too early to tell here in Denmark with only very few stores carrying those two models yet), I may of course end up choosing the 6900 after all.
