I'm pretty much set on the PS50Q97HDX and its come down to a simple choice : £877 delivered with 1 year waranty or £990 from John Lewis with 5 year warranty. i'm sure most would go for the JL set, but, I can't help question the value of a 5 year warranty when the sale of goods act can be invoked for a period of 5 or 6 years. Surely no 'reasonable person' would expect a grand's worth of TV to last 1 year..or even 2 or 3 years? Assuming average use of 2/3 hours Vieving a day-how long would YOU expext your new plasma or lcd tv to last? I would say 5 years-and I think i'm reasonable! Has anyone actually taken a seller or manufacturer to task on an expensive product that failed shortly after the manufacturers warranty expired? Of course, pursuing a fault or failure under the sale of goods act means hassle, whereas, as I understand it, John Lewis are excellent to deal with. I have no experience of them at all. The price difference isn't such a big deal, it would be nice to have a few quid to spend on some bluray movies though. would be interested to hear your views on the merits of using the sale of goods act to claim a refund or compensation. Oh, did I mention I wanted to order the TV today?!
