Why not wife friendly? Surely it's a little more elegant than the PV500 (personal opinion!)

Or is this just the concept of spending £1500 on a TV, when it's sat next to the Bush CRTs for £200?! :rotfl:

dotn worry about size - i ahve my 50" 10 fet away and its perfect. Its a myth really so unless you stand one foot away - your'e fine any distance around 5 foot plus.

I have seen them side by side at currys....I would favor the panny BUT the difference was so minor with dvds that it might have been the feed. The blacks were slightly better on the panny but the colors looked richer on the samsung.....this are of course my own opinion and everyone will have a difference in opinion. If i was buying a plasma right now SD I would certainly go for the samsung (as i have the HD model on order, hope its not a mistake with it being sight unseen). I hope to get mine in the next week or so and will give a review when i get it.
    cheers

This sounds like the title of a movie 'When Sammy met Panny'

My money's on Sammy at the moment, but I ain't buying a pig in a poke, so I will wait a while before ordering one.

Ive ordered one of these today from robertsons online, £1299 free delivery and six months interest free, buy now pay later scheme. Had a look at one at currys and like the look both switched on and off although can believe the price they are selling it at for £1699. Have been looking for a sub £1500 plasma for the last few months and cant belive the spec for the price ive paid

Will someone explain to a techno-thicko like me the following question.

The new Sammy SD is not high definition, whereas the Sammy H is - right?

I almost went to buy the lg for £1395 at currys until i saw the samsung next to it and thought it looked the biz although it was £1695 but was prepared to buy it over the LG. Couldnt believe my luck when i saw it advertised at £1249 at hughes direct and at Robertsons.. Looking at the spec it seems to be way above the other models in the same price range, the only thing that concerns me is that it does seem quite cheap even for a SD model.

The black bezel really sets the screen off nicely, just hope im not dissappointed when it arrives

Samsung PS42P5 looks quite nice HD, HDMI IDTV. It's probably the closest to spec to something like a PV500, bit disappointed at DigiUK's price though £1999.95 puts it quite close to the deals on the Panny.

Still looking forward to seeing it in action though.

i saw that Samsung S5SD in currys today (£1699) and i must say i was
impressed, it was just a RF feed and a panny P500 next to it had a DVD
playing on it and the sammy had a much bettter PQ. IMHO
