Hi all, first post although have been reading lots over last few days. I'm thinking of buying my first Plasma, but have decided to not spead lots of £££ for a few years when HiDef is more common and some services are available.

But for now I'm looking at either a cheap (but good) plasma or a 100hz CRT

    I've found this plasma;

    Tiny 42" Plasma (SAMSUNG PS-42 V4S)
    From http://homecinema.tiny.com/packages.php?prodid=12055

Does anyone have one and could comment on its quality please ?
    or
Does anyone have knowledge and could comment ?

I've heard this model may have a "alice" screen, anyone know more on this ?

    Many Thanks for information :)

    Dave

    Hi Weeman.
Appreciate your comments regards initial budget. But you can do better than this.( You couldn't do much worse)
There are seperate threads running about the Tiny offer and about the Samsung PS42V4. Do a search and all will be revealed.
The PS42V4 is Samsungs latest. I had one and sent it back due to poor picture quality.
And that screen in the Tiny picture is definately not a PS42V4. Its a much older model.
In general terms, get the budget up to £1700 ish if you can.

    Hi happyh,

Thanks for the comments, I can do £1700, but when I look it always seems a minefield. I'll have a search through these forums and try and re-read and come up with another option.

Thought the Tiny seemed "too" cheap to be any good.

    Thanks again
    Dave

The general wisdom here is a Pany pwd6 with a few bits as advertised here by AV sales around £1600. Or a pwd7 for a bit more but with HiDef.
I have a Pany viera which is the Dogs B's of a TV incl speakers, tuner, freeview etc. A 37" is now around £2k. And is a great piece of kit.

weeman with 37" APnny at £2k ish its a very very attractive deal especailly as it it is a plug and PLAY TV... However PHD7 (Hi-DEf Payy panel 42" is around £2.5 now.. If you have Sky a decent DVD player and an AV amp/Surround system this may well be worth a demo
