Hi, just purchased a new Samsung tv. Opened up to find no hdmi connection on the back of the tv itself . Iv been told by Samsung tech, only the one connect system is being used going forward. So for everyone who already have there hdmi hidden in the wall , like me , be aware . How they can not put at least one connection on the tv is beyond me. Well done Samsung

I’d put that almost in the position of exploiting a monopoly position myself. I understand why Samsung want to do it but this has happened previously with other companies I.e. Hitachi years ago and it always leads to issues further down the line. Personally if I was you I’d reject the TV and get something with industry standard connections like HDMI if I was you

The TV has the standard connections, they're just on a box attached to a flexible cable. Other manufacturers do the same thing to a lesser extent, such as LG's W7 model.

There are no connections on the TV itself, it's a different form factor rather than a different set of connections.

It's up to you to do your research on whatever TV you're thinking of buying.
BTW you could do with editing the title of your thread.
It makes no sense in its current state.

It’s well advertised about the one connect box. It’s a feature they widely trumpet.

It does. They’re just not on the TV. [emoji6]

I imagine hiding that OneConnect box behind the screen won’t be easy. What a pain.

(You can edit the hasty title if you edit the OP)

Your research was poor. If you go To Samsung’s site and look for the model you bought it will be mentioned.

There’s a reason sympathy is lacking; it’s undeserved

Exactly. There’s a lan connection, interface slot. All they had to do is put one hdmi connection on the BACK of the tv , to give everyone who already have a established room the option. And your right I should have done more research, but that still doesn’t deter the fact it’s a stupid idea

Tough crowd. I don’t think it’s a huge leap to assume a TV would have an hdmi socket on the back. Not something you’d really “research”.

In that case you may have grounds for a refund or exchange for a different brand/model.

You’d research the tv though. Samsung trumpet the one connect box and it’s mentioned in reviews etc. That’s my point.

What about the people who don’t spend time researching TVs, who see a tv in sale for example , or impulse buy it. Expecting a hdmi outlet on the back of it. It’s a warning to them . That’s my point

Seems only the 2018 QLED range have the one connect box now. Series 7 and 8 ( not seen a 9 yet) have the traditional connections.

I didn’t know that meant no on-board hdmi when I got my KS7000. In my case I liked it because I had a table mount thing but if I’d been wall mounting I’d have been pissed.
