Ahead of MWC (Mobile World Congress) there is yet another leaked handset. This looks look a more slimline version of the Omnia with quite a strong feature set. It is rumoured to run on the Symbian S60 OS 5th edition.

    Features:
    • 8 megapixel camera
    • 8 or 16GB storage
    • Front videoconferencing camera
    • GPS
    • HDMI output
    • DNLA compatible
    • DivX support
    • High definition video recording (1280 x 768 pixels)
    • Wi-Fi
    • 3.5mm Socket

Looks like it will be running Symbian S60 v5 according to Dailymobile.se. It seems from the pictures below that once again Samsung releases a high-end camera phone with only LED flash, a xenon flash seems to be a real rarity nowadays. :thumbsdow

I would imagine that's because the video recording seems to be the priority here, something that Xenon can't help with as it can't stay illuminated.

LED isn't as good as Xenon for still photos, but it's not quite as bad these days as it was and still capable of some decent results. But for video, LED is the only real option as it can stay on.

Of course both options would have been nice, as SE have managed in the past, but I'd imagine there are cost and packaging options preventing that from becoming the norm.

I agree Rob. Ideally both solutions should have been implemented for what is a high-end phone. Hopefully some more firm details will be revealed today at MWC.

What we do know is that the name has been outed as the OmniaHD.

We're not sure if it's the 720p video or the simply breathtaking 3.5-inch display that does it for us, but one way or another, Samsung's ridiculously-spec'd OmniaHD is a sight to behold. The team at Engadget Spanish had a chance to swing by and check out the high-end handset's goodies today, and let's get right down to the point (and the main reason you'd buy this phone): the video that's getting shown off on the phone looks as good or better than anything we've ever seen before (it does have "HD" in its name, after all). Follow the break for the video!

I think I read somewhere that the omnia hd should be available around the end of april/start of may. My contract is up for renewal then as well and im actually liking this phone better than the N97 atm. I just hope they sort out the few niggles mentioned at wmc for the final product.

Samsung are doing a promotion by giving bloggers the chance to try the phone out and market the phone before release. This runs from april to end june which has me thinking this phone will probably be released beginning of july:confused: Same time as the N97. Looks like im going to have to hang on to my current contract a little longer!

On another note, shouldnt this thread be moved to the samsung mobiles section?

    (this post is in general)

If it is directed to the attention of myself or Hutch that there is more substantive information available than a press release and vague Q3 release date then we will of course be open to thoughts

the explanations do not hold water at all. i mean here is one example from the sony forum of a phone that is due to be released in q4 2009 and yet this sits here in the wrong section all by its lonesome.

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/sony...csson-idou-12mp-touchscreen-smartphone-4.html

this should be moved straight away to the samsung forum after all a lot of people will be interested in this.

The Samsung OmniaHD Blog has an interesting post here. It talks about the read-across from the AAS preview last week.

Sounds very promising and as for the two niggles, the first one seems to have been solved from what looks like the latest version of the omnia hd (see youtube video below) and the second niggle im sure samsung would rectify before release.
