Samsung NU7020 and Smart Things

After selling my 2015 LG 4K TV I got a great deal on a 43" nu7020 (£250) which has gone into the bedroom. All is well, considering its the entry level set in Samsung's line up except when it comes to connevconn my phone up, primarily to use as a remote (mainly to use the screen as a track pad).

I'm using the TVs ultra powerful 2.4ghz and my phone is connected to the same network. I'm signed into my Samsung account on the TV but when I launch the app on my phone, press sign in, it takes me to a page that tells me it's designed for optimised browsers. A pretty useless page.

When I look at nearby devices, nothing.

I've reinstalled, tried the smart view app and nothing.

Am I missing something? Do I need to have a Samsung mobile? Does it even work?

My old LG and my Panny have no such issues. This Samsung doesn't even work with 3rd party remote apps.

Any advice appreciated.
