The samsung DVD region hack as featured on this website worked first time on a machine I bought at xmas for my parents. However, the same model bought from the same shop two weeks later for myself, will not accept the region hack!! Does anyone have an answer as to why this could be??

Evidently the hack varies with the firmware version. And, AFAIK, there isn't a hack for the most recent (which is, I think 5E from memory). So, I guess that the 2 players are from different batches and have different firmare.

The firmware is indicated by the boxes. The hackable one says its made in Spain, the newer unhackable is made in Korea. Or it could be the other way round (I think I am right the first way). The boxes also have a slightly different shade of green.
