Ive seen this LCD on pixmania.com for £1000 with the HD850 dvd/divx player and HDMI cable.

Before I order I wondered if anyone could give some advice.

Ive heard this TV suffers from tearing. What is this?

Is it worth connecting the dvd player via hdmi or should i get a component cable?

I plan to also connect an NTL box, and maybe later replace this with Sky along with a PC for media center (using Epia SP13000 board).

Does this lcd offer a good picture with all the above?

I've tried looking round my local area (Nottingham) but cannot find a place where I can view one so I'm going to have to buy blind.

Seems pixmania have got rid of this promo since I saw it.

Same above still applies but now I'd get the HD950 separately

"By Tearing we basically mean that different parts of the screen update at different speeds. Imagine if most of the screen was showing one frame, but at the bottom of the screen, the image was lagging behind and was showing pictures that should have been shown a fraction of a second earlier."

That's my best explanation - but you'd soon notice it if you saw it.

I think a statement like that realy does need some explaining behind it, you may have good reason but to me that just says nothing.................

Bought my Canon PIXMA IP4000 printer from them back in Sept/Oct time, and not had a problem with it or them. Everything went smoothly. Even included a UK adapter for the Euro 2 pin plug to connect to.

As per above comment - think you should qualify your blanket statement.

Thanks for the explanation on tearing. As for the comments about pixmania I have only 2 things to say:

1 Ive known people use them before without problems and 2, I buy with a credit card and I worked in the credit card industry so Ive no problems understanding my rights.

So is this TV worth purchasing? are there comparable lcd's in the same price bracket?
