Ok, so anyone who is thing about buying this set has probably read through the MAMMOTH thread on it and discovered the tearing problem some people have been experiencing (also on Lyris' site I read the backlight cannot be adjusted).

So for people who havent actually got it yet, can anyone suggest a reasonable substittue in the, lets say, £800 - £1000 price range?

It should have similar spec, HDMI, fast response time etc (I believe the Samsung is 12ms), for Xbox 360 / PS3 etc.

People will be able to give you a better answer (in other words, one that's available right now).

But if it doesn't have to be urgent, the new Sony S-series has a very impressive sounding 32" model that should be around 900-1000 pounds.

I've also heard there's a 32" Panasonic model that's supposed to be very good (don't think that has a backlight adjust either though).

There's also the Toshiba 32WL56 which is around the 850-950 mark at the moment, or you could wait for it's older brother; the 32WLT58 to be released around the 1200 mark with 2 HDMI, Component inputs and a freeview receiver built in.

There's also of course the Hitachi 32LD7200 which is around the 1200 mark (which is what I've got! :D )

Do all these do 1:1 Pixel mapping for HTPC's? Preferably via DVI :)
