Thnx for your reply enjay77,

my set is SS04 and currently my setup menu says 1007 (dec. 2007) (as already told, I could be 2009 but that I don't know).
Seems I have a a FRC-S board, at least according to the person I talked to, he said they used the FRC-S upgrade. So an other combination then you describe.

But do you see any improvement after the update?

1009 removes the flicker from 24Hz playback - picture quality remains the same as 1007 as far as I can tell

Interesting, I was under the impression that all SS04 sets had a FRC-M board, I requested the FRC to be re flashed but was when the guy read the release notes to me over the the phone SS04 was NOT in the compatibality list.

Maybe you have been given the wrong firmware?? Did it remove the faults you wanted it to remove?

Sorry, you're absolutely right. They lied to me by sayng they flashed the FRCS version. In my setup menu it says SS04 and FRCM.

Don't know yet if it removed my faults, my PS3 is in repair. Is there any other way to tell?

You will certainly still have a flicker on 24Hz as that is removed with 1009, but you will need your PS3 to see that (or another BD player)

hey guys, trying to set my samsung f86 to 'Dynamic mode' when using my xbox 360 but it won't let me.
does anyone know a way of getting around this or whether it is possible?
I've tried connecting via VGA and component and the only option in the 'Picture Mode' menu is 'Standard.
thanks in advance

If it still says 1007 in the service menu then you are still on 1007......this is an issue as don't know how you can raise this without admitting that you have gone into the service menu....which will void your warranty.

Suppose the only option you have is to call Samsung and say the issues still exist that you presumably reported initially to get the non existant upgrade.

Christ, ive just requested to be upgraded from 1008 to 1009 (ss04). To get better blacks and picture as recommended by Harves. On holiday from work next week and ill try to ring them tomorrow to return their call. Hope they dont mess me around,i want 1009 installed first time!

100Hz should be available in the user menu now with settings for Off LOW MEDIUM and HIGH

You need a service engineer to upgrade your firmware, which can be arranged by calling Samsung directly

Super, enjoy 1009

I hope i will,im just a little cautious of 1009 making the screen too bright. Ive got pretty crap blacks with 1008 though, thats why i want to change.

Im just hoping they dont mess me around and say theyve installed it when they havent, like others have reported on here. At least ill be here in person to check what they do.

Does anyone saw how they are doing the update: what kind of program they are using, what cable they are using to connect to the TV?

Just curious? :D

Ok well the engineer came today to install my new firmware.

He said 1009 wasnt available for download so he reinstalled 1008 which made it go back to 1007.

Its a little odd though as now the blacks appear more grey when other people with the 1007 firmware said the 1008 made the blacks worse.

Im a little confused as too what to do now as i only wanted the 1009 firmware installed,it seemed like a simple request really.

Any advice guys?

What panel do you have ? an SS04? Has it changed to 1007.0 or 1007.1?

For the SS04 there is deffo a 1009 f/w cos I have it. If you have Blueray check for flicker on 24Hz
