Hi, i'm looking to buy a 23 inch samsung lcd r87 or r88 (not sure whats the difference) or a r71 (but i would want the extra hdmi), but before i do what is the quality of the display as a PC monitor both through d-sub VGA and hdmi - dvi (as i see samsung lists both as pc input in the manual).

So any one who is using a samsung display r71, 87 or 88 series give their opinions on the quality through both pc input methods, as this is the only factor stopping me from purchasing one righ tnow.

Also if anyone knows whats the difference between the r87 and r88 series?

    thanks

my R74 (same as R71?) is supurb when connected to my PC via VGA. only thing that annoys me is switching between my normal monitor and my TV, as each time the PC needs to be restarted in low graphics mode and the resolution manually changed... would be much better if you can use it all the time which isnt an option for me!

Difference between R87 and R88 - The difference is purely cosmetic and is to do with the position of the Power button and controls on the TV. The R87 has the Power button as a big round button in the centre of the TV whilst the R88 has a touch sensitive control on the right of the screen.

If you download the R87/R88 manual (its the same file) it does highlight this difference. Apart from that they are identical.

Do both have the blue glow as seen on the R88 pictures but not on the R87 pictures on the samsung website. Its kinda off putting.

    thanks

Only the R88 has the Blue glow but this can be turned off in the menu. In fact it has 4 settings.

    Off
    On in Standby
    On when TV is on
    On when TV is off
