Looks promising
So when's coming first HDR game for xboxS?
I think Forza (end of this month) and Gears of Wars (beginning of next month).

Can someone explain why I can't get Game Mode with my PC connection? I'm connected with HDMI via a Denon AVR X2200W and Game Mode is not available. I'm pretty sure it works with my PS4 and Xbox One via the Denon. So what's the issue?

What about Forza Horizon 3 demo?I think is coming this week? We don't know if the demo is HDR right?

Info says 1089.1 x 699.0 x 233.2 mm with the feet. Does not say the distance between the feet, that you might have to measure yourself when you can find this size in the shop.

I was hoping that someone that already has it would be kind enough to let me know.

Just measured mine - 100cm length and 23cm deep. Just about fits on my stand - was thinking I may need to buy that separate stand someone posted somewhere on here that mounts in the centre.

Thanks for letting me know. Looks like a new stand is needed.

I'm considering one of these but have a couple of concerns: first, how reflective is the screen? I've currently got a Sammy plasma, and it's a great set, bar the ultra-reflective screen. Dark scenes are sometimes unwatchable in anything other than utter blackness.

The other consideration is how this stacks up against OLED. The LG 950V is within range but I had a LG plasma that suffered red speckles, so I'm loathe to invest again, unless proven. Is the 950 that much superior than the Sammy?

Cheers.

Hi

I took delivery of my 60KS7000 on Friday and unfortunately it looks like is going to have to go back to the store.

Positive stuff first though , HD and 4k picture is stunning, depth of colour and contrast is unreal on 4K footage and huge step up from the 720p stuff we normally watch on sky.

Picture settings take a bit fiddling to get the best picture from each source which is a bit of a pain, I'm sure though after time we will settle on settings which give a good picture across everything. Menu's and controllers are easy to use, Netflix and Amazon Prime work well, black levels are really good but do have some issues (on our set).

With HDR we only have Netflix and Amazon and can't really see much improvement over standard 4k, maybe I'm looking for something that isn't there in the shows that are available. I've been reading the 8000/9000 owners thread so I'm confident my settings are correct to enable HDR.

Issues

Main one and why I have contacted the store today to discuss an exchange is the back panel is coming away along the right hand side and right bottom corner, also when you reach under the screen at the front and touch the back panel it feels loose, we have light bleed all along the bottom (worst at the right corner) across all viewing, light or dark scenes, and have what looks like a torch shining in each bottom corner which is really visible when watching a film in low light with black bars at the bottom.

We are also having terrible blooming around the screen, we managed to partly fix this by turning off LED Monitor (think that's what it's called) but not sure how this will impact HDR viewing as more films and shows become available, it seems you need this option on to get the full spectrum of colours.

Assuming RS replace this unit due to build issues we are going to try another KS7000 and hope the next one one is better !

Thanks

Sam

Thanks for the post. I spoke to someone at Richer Sounds Liverpool the other day to find out where I stood with regards not being happy with a set and the best I got was refund with a re stocking charge unless it was a manufacturers fault. I hope he reads your post as according to him he had never seen a Samsung tv with light bleed. Thats when I got bored of the conversation and starred to wrap things up. From more about what I read I feel more and more being pushed to an oled or don't bother. I also have to say I seemed to have read an awful lot about build problems on the 7000.

It seem's light bleed and blooming is a non issue to the stores and even Samsung, there was a chappy on the 8000/9000 owners thread who had terrible blooming watching HDR and samsung advised it was within tolerance, looking at the pics it was unacceptable and in the end JL allowed him to exchange for an OLED, unfortunately the new OLED's are out of our price range.

Just hope RS take ours back based on build issues and the replacement set has no light bleed or not as bad, worst case scenario we get a good build but a worst screen.

Some pics below of where the back is coming away (best I could do with an iphone).

Had a similar issue with the ks8000, after many factory refresh and messing about, found that changing the Hz in the PC to 50 from 60 allowed the game mode, eventually I tried a direct cable to the one connect and another to my amp which gave me 4k at 60hz I then set the TV to home theatre and unplugged the direct HDMI so far the ability to set game movie and hdr have stuck.

Hi

Another update, just got off the phone with RS and they are going to organise an exchange when another unit comes into stock, they have asked for some photo's in advance and details of the fault but seemed really willing to resolve this. If they keep to their word then I've got to say the service was really good.

Just hope we don't fix one problem and create 10 new ones by exchanging the unit, it had to go though, we can't have gaps between the back panel and the front screen, they might be small now but if the adhesive is failing then it's only going to get worst.

If anyone is thinking of buying one of these and has any questions please ask, even though we have issues I'm still very impressed with the picture quality.

Thanks

Sam

65KS7005 down to €1799 (£1518~) here in Finland. I had already given up interest @ €2499, but now I'm tempted again!

Slightly concerned reading about issues from other recent KS7000 purchasers. I took delivery of one yesterday and have seen terrible colour issues on the left hand side of the panel - it's much fainter than the rest (backlight issue?) and makes watching something like football impossible (almost blue pitch on one side of the screen).

I also have a problem with the bottom right hand side of the panel feeling loose when you press it. I'm sending it back to Currys and have ordered from John Lewis instead. Worried now that this might just be an issue with the set in general though and that the new one will be just as bad.

It's amazing that none of the reviews I watched and read seemed to have these problems. Hopefully I'm in the minority and the next one will be all good. As mentioned above, it has the potential to be a great tv but it needs to nail the basics too.

I have to say some of the posts today have put me right off. The money I could justify but not with any of the issues above. This should not be happening for a £1299 set.

Could you post a picture of how this looks attached to the TV???

ysYhtpKh.jpg

I'm not who you asked, but I have the exact same one on a 49" KS7000 :) there's a small reflection on the bottom you can see, that's just the hole in the back of the mount, it's not visible from the sofa.

It's going to be wall mounted eventually.

Bear in mind, people come here with problems. I don't think I have any issues really :)

That's likely because the edge light is placed at the bottom of the TV rather than the sides. So light is going to be prominent from the bottom of the screen. It also means that unlike last years models it's impossible to have a cinema black mode or whatever it was called. Becasue the light comes from the bottom, it's impossible to turn of the the top and bottom light to have black bars during films rather than the grey ones you see.

I get that, but regardless these things are happening.

You wont find a single thread where there aren't problems. There is no product on earth that is 100% perfect. So by your logic you shouldn't buy anything because someone has had an issue with it.

I have to say for a £1299 set, I don't think it's too much to ask for the thing to be clipped together properly. Where's quality control gone?
