I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this so if not please move...

I have a SONOS playbar/sub/2x play1 rears and I'm in the market for a new TV. I'm looking at the Samsung JS8000 or maybe the JS9000 if I think I can live with the bendy screen! My question is, does anyone know if these TVs will output 5.1 from the optical out? From both connected sources (e.g. sky box) and also integrated sources (e.g. amazon prime/netflix)?

I've looked at the product manuals online but I could find anything concrete about if the optical out is 5.1 (I know some TVs only send 2.0 from optical out).

Looking for the same answer, even looking on the sonos forums is confusing.

You've probably seen this form the manual for JS8000, but here is what the manual says:
"A home theatre system that has been connected to the TV with an HDMI cable and an optical cable only supports 2-channel audio. 5.1-channel audio is, however, available for digital broadcasts with 5.1-channel audio."

I suggest you call SAMSUNG customer service and ask them this specific question.
