This looks like an excellent all round soundbar.
I've been looking at the sonus playbar for a 5.1 solution, how would you rate the Samsung in comparison?

I think it sounds better than the Sonos Playbar.

I know it's not easy these days but if you can get a demo I think you'll be impressed.

Have read a lot of positive reviews on this soundbar- especially the subwoofer. Just an fyi tho for anyone considering purchasing a soundbar, the Sony Atmos soundbar HT ST-5000 finally got a firmware update recently and it can now also handle dtx:X
Great to have so much choice as a consumer and thx for fantastic review Steve

I heard the 950 recently and thought that sounded really good.
      How does this compare?

Very similar, although for pure two-channel the MS750 is superior thanks to the distortion cancelling technology.

Thanks Steve, I was very impressed with the scale of the 950.

Sounds like soundbars are actually becoming a viable alternative to standalone 5.1 now.

Steve you say that Samsung are offering some great deals, with £200 off the MS750 if bought in conjunction with a TV (any brand, not just Samsung)

I notice that Richer Sounds has this listed differently with this Soundbar that contradict what you say

*Claim £200 back on this product when purchased with any new Samsung UHD TV. Offer ends 30/04/18,click here for full details.

Richer Sounds may have it wrong, but to me it is saying it can be any UHD Samsung tv, but no mention of other brands.
Are you able to clarify please.
This sound bar deserves a demo next week.

From Currys site - "DISCOUNT CODE - £200 off the marked price when bought with any TV. Enter code SAMSAVE200 at checkout"

You can also get £200 off if you buy the soundbar and subwoofer together

If you are going to go down the Sonos route I would recommend the PlayBase.
If you decide upon Sonos then go with the Playbase and not the PlayBar. I was staggered at just how good the PlayBase is. Its got more bass than the bar is is beautiful bit of kit.

I heard the playbase did not sound as good as the playbar?
My TV is wall mounted so a base is out of the equation.

      Hi Steve,
How does it compare to MS650? Is almost double the price worth it? Thx

Does it still auto power off after five mins of no sound? Ridiculous. But great sound.

SteveBk, I contacted Samsung today about the offer and they confirmed that it is valid against any new UHD TV not just Samsung ones. I asked them as I've bought a LG oled and a MS750 from RS and had the same doubt as you.

      Thanks for a good review.
Do you have to use SWA-9000S surround kit or can you pair it with other Samsung multi-room speakers?

Do you reckon the extra £200 is worth it for this Soundbar compared to it's little brother, the MS650?

Sorry for the late response. I've heard both and reckon the £200 difference is worth it. Saying that in the end I took it back and got the Yamaha DSP2700 instead! Not sure on the surround kit front sorry.

I have the MS650 And wireless rears already and came here looking for info on if the 750 is worth the upgrade since I’m so impressed with the 650, I can get for a £170 difference after I’ve sold the 650. Worth it or not??

For anyone needing clarity on the Samsung offer the details are in the link below. It’s any UHD Tv, and what’s more you can claim up to £500 across the 3 product categories on a single TV purchase. I’ve just bought a tv for the bedroom so got the Sub too!
Claim £200 when you buy an All in One Soundbar with any UHD TV from selected retailers

Note Currys and a couple of other retailer obviously have some deal with Samsung where they run their own version of the offer where you get discount at the point of sale rather than via. A cashback programme directly with Samsung.

      Hope that helps some folks.

Currys also haven't stipulated that you need to buy a 'UHD' TV, they state "ANY TV". Cheapest TV they do is now £89.99, so if you go that route, you'll save £110 and have a cheap TV to resell or gift.

I picked up the MS750 and rears in the Black Friday Sale, and I like it. Unfortunately I'm not experienced enough to tell you how good, or compare it to any other products as this is my first set of speakers. I only went the soundbar route as the layout of our living room is c**p - the TV is in the corner with sofas on adjacent walls. I wasn't going to set up the rear speakers (free in the bundle) given the layout, but I have now positioned them either side of the main sofa, albeit on the floor. I'm now looking to add the subwoofer.

This is all just a stepping stone, until I can work out how to achieve a proper Atmos setup, but certainly does the trick.

Yeah I got the rears too, and yeah the Currys offer was any TV - I got a £220 1080p one with it. All points to clearing stock for a model refresh maybe?

I came to this from a circa £7000 setup (but 5 yrs old) and am thoroughly impressed. Also a stepping stone but I think it might be a very wide river to cross before I feel I need to upgrade again given the expense and complication.

I have read elsewhere that the 2 upward firing speakers can have a negative effect on dialog as they can drown out sound coming from center of the soundbar.
For that reason alone I am not considering the MS-750 as I had to return an LG and a Yamaha soundbar as the dialog was awful from both- an achilles heel of many soundbars.
I'm thinking of buying the MS650 tomorrow can u tell me how is dialog off it during movie playback...and does it now decode dts 5.1 after firmware update? (I know upon release it was Dolby 5.1 and dts 2.0 compatible)

I’ve not jumped yet... can you link me the review that said that? I’ve noticed in general he reviews for the 750 aren’t as gushing as the 650.

I thought the dialogue was very good for a soundbar, and definitely improved with the sub. It’s noticable how much it frees up the bar from producing the sub frequencies. That said even without it, it’s worlds better than all othe bars I’ve tested and sent back.

...does the 650 dialog/voices sound better when the soundbar sends sub frequencies to a seperate sub?

Here's 1 review from Digital Trends where the issue is mentioned... @approx 2mins 30secs

Samsung Sound Plus MS750 Soundbar - Hands On...

I read it elsewhere too will try to find it later...

In my opinion yes. The bar itself has more than enough guts to do all dialogue justice. I dont think I can hear any sub involvement for dialogue at all.

Before this I had a monitor audio radius 200 centre with a tx-nr3007 receiver and I can’t honestly say it’s any worse than that, considering that’s a £200 centre with a £3k amp. That’s my comparison point.

I ended up getting the bar, sub and rears for an all in cost of £544. At that price it’s astonishing. If I had paid rrp for it all (around £1450) maybe I’d be less impressed, or more likely would have gone for the K950.

Dts 5.1 decoding is supposed to be there after the update, however I don’t know how you can really confirm it because there is no way of telling the source format etc like with receiver lights.

very interesting and thank you for the detailed feedback. Think I will go ahead and pick up the soundbar tomorrow then- worst case scenario I have 2 weeks to return it.

Glad to hear it got the dts 5.1 firmware update as I can only assume dialog would be more centered on the soundbar vs. a dts 2.0 signal that was relying on some funky sound processing to try and get the dialog centered.

I have LG65C7 - which is the best sound bar to go with - I have a corner tv set up. Choices are LG SJ8 - LG SJ9 - Yamaha YSP 2700 - Samsung MS750 . All around the same price points. Any recommendations for best immersive sound

The article price is now incorrect; Samsung UK have increased the price by £100 to £799 since the article was published.

Can/should the article price and perhaps, more pertinently, the commentary, rating and conclusion also be amended to take the new price-point into account?

Interestingly, the Samsung.com price in the USA for the HW-MS750 is $699 but it is currently on offer at $549 which equates to £406 at today's exchange rates!

I think we're all used to 'a bit' of US / UK price disparity, but almost twice the price is taking the proverbial...
