    Hello again jont123

Only just realised - manual that comes with my HT-TX35R also covers HT-X30.
It appears that the only difference (from what I can gather - it's only an assumption) is that the X30 has the satelite type speakers - not tall boy.
Other than that, there doesn't seem to be any difference in specification.

That being the case, see thread regarding HT-TX35R - should fill you in on the details.

Many thanks for the responses, much appreciated.

I ordered today (£140, Dabs), which seems like a steal. Will post my views, etc in due course.

Looking at getting this as well.

Downloaded the instruction book from Samsungs website and it clearly shows the unit WILL except an "optical" input and does not have an "optical" output. My new LCS tv model LE37R87BDX has an "optical" out port. This I hope will allow me to connect to two together

    Hi Davidskan1,

Seeing as this system is exactly the same as the HT-TX35R apart from the speakers, you can try this hack out yourself. I found this browsing through other threads. Follow the step by step instructions properly:

    1. Remove Disc from Tray.
    2. Switch Off Player
    3. Wait 30 Seconds, Then Reconnect Mains.
    4. Turn On player with Remote Control. Wait for player to Finish Loading and Display 'No Disc'.
    5. Press Enter on Remote Control. (There will be No On-Screen Response.)
    6. Press 8, 4, 2, 6, 9 on the remote. (There will be No On-screen Response.)
    7. Press Enter on the Remote Control. Player will Automatically Turn Off.
    8. Turn Player On.
    9. Open Tray
    10. Close tray.
    11. Turn Player Off then On Again.
    12. Player is Now Region Free

Please tell us how you got on.

I bought one in Currys Superstore yesterday and I'm watching the Diana concert with TV sound thro' the HT-X30R ( analogue only as I'm waiting for an optical lead to arrive) and the sound is very impressive:

Once I get the volume over 20, the vocals really jump into life.

Plays DVDs fine - Sound effects leap about in a most satisfactory manner.

I use mine with a Samsung LE 26 R88 in the kitchen/diner; 'cause the missus keeps hogging the 37" Tosh in the lounge!

I have been searching for a good all round budget Home Cinema System and I think I`ve settled for either this HT-X30R or the HT-TX35.
I have read the excellent thread on the HT-TX35R and having looked around the specs on these models seem to be exactly the same, the only difference being that the HT-TX35 has tall boy speakers.

Whilst I am not a fan of tall boy speakers these ones don`t look too bad (Better than some wonky LG ones I have seen.

The only thing that has put me off the HT-X30 is the speakers, whilst they are heavy enough they just don`t look the part??

Why cant they sell the X30R with the same quality speakers they are selling with the very stylish but oh to big HT-X250R.

I suppose I could buy the HT-X30R and buy some other speakers if I had the cash.

If the specs between the two systems are the same then the decision will be on the speakers. Anyone know of a high street store or retailer in London that is selling the HT-TX35, I know tje HT-X30 is in Currys Digital at £199.99 and I saw it several weeks ago in PC World for I think an incredible £149.99.

I have a Toshiba 32 C3030D and need the optical input for a future HTPC.
Any comparison between the two systems??

    Ta

the v box has only 2 scart connections one tv an one vcr,it is connected to the tv from the tv connection with a scart, and the x30 is also connected to the tv with a scart ,the surround works when playing a dvd but when switched to watching the v-box there is only audio from the tv itself none from the surround

From the x30 to Plasma use a HMDI cable (not scart) this free up scart 2 on plasma

    V box scart to vcr

V box scart to Plasma Scart 1

Phono out on plasma (red white) to phono on x30, if plasma hasnt got phono out, use a scart to phono cable from scart 2 to x30

So to listen to V box audio through x30 you just change the input source on the x30

you can run a n optical cable from the tv to the x30r and this works pretty well, or runa scart fromt he v+ box to your x30r as a sound/ phono input if you dont have optical.

i got this system with my telly - and have to say for the price its awesome, only quibble i have is the usb playback can be very slow to start as it catalogues the usb drive for playback.
