Samsung HT-DM550 optical input

I have a Home-Cinema 5.1 system Samsung HT-DM550. This is also an amplifier.

I need to buy another DVD player, since this one plays few video formats.
I want to re-use my speakers and subwoofer, but the actual dvd players only have RCA inputs, right? I don't want to buy another amplifier nor home-cinema system.

My actual DVD player/amplifier has an optical input. I though I could connect a new player to my amplifier through this. I want a full DTS, DD, etc. system, is that possible?

If it is, please advice me some models.

Thank you!:hiya:

Hi, you will find that most DVD players have an optical out allowing you to connect it to your amp. You will get Dolby Digital, DTS etc this way.

Hope this helps.
