Hi

Quick question.

If I Buy a home cinema system, Samsung HT-THX25R which includes an upscaling dvd player, can I swap that item for a HDMI DVD recorder? (DVD-R155)

If so, will it still upscale dvd's??

No you won't be able to do that. These type of home cinema systems have the amplifer built into the DVD player, so not possible to swap it with a DVD recorder.

Yes, unless you are prepared to buy a dedicated home cinema receiver and speakers, which can be very costly.

Personally, what I'd do in your situation is go for a DVD recorder and buy a 5.1 multimedia speaker system with digital input. The Logitech Z-5500 will do the trick and will sound much better than those Samsung speakers. See here - http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/74753/rb/0

As for a DVD recorder, I'd go for this Sony - http://www.laskys.com/tv_and_dvd/dvd/dvd_recorders/sony_rdrgx350b_cek.html
