iPhone knocked off its perch for first time in 2 years
According to research firm, Strategy Analytics, Samsung's Galaxy S3 has deposed Apple's iPhone as the most popular smartphone available as it became the worldwide best-seller last quarter. It's the first time in 2 years that the iPhone hasn't topped the charts.
Strategy Analytics estimates Samsung has sold around 18 million S3's in the last financial quarter with Apple shifting 'just' 16.2 million units. Neither numbers could be regarded as shabby!
"Samsung's Galaxy S3 has proven wildly popular with consumers and operators across North America, Europe and Asia," said analyst Neil Mawston, who also anticipated the iPhone 5 would return to the top after the CHristmas period.
